So this father of seven being transgender is not the issue, but the "Peter Pan" syndrome that is co-morbid with it makes me scratch my head.

Toward the end of the video it gets real strange.

Not sure how this is going to be spun by anti-trans. Also not sure why "Stefonknee" was chosen to be featured in the video.

The question is as always.

Is this behavior harming others in some way? Is it making unreasonable demands on others?

And I'm not claiming to know the answer.

He could be trolling.

I can understand trans-gender. But identifying as a six-year old, be the person T-G or straight, seems to me to be some deep seated emotional, mental health problems.

I think that's going a little too far with this whole " I identify as" routine. We have men identifying as women, women identifying as men, whites identifying as black, and now this. What's next? A man identifying as a dog? Oh wait...I guess that ship has sailed:

Born Gary Matthews, the retired technology worker and a self-confessed "nerd" thinks he is a dog. The 48-year-old wears a dog collar, eats dog food from a bowl — his favorite is Pedigree – and loves milk bones and dog cookies.

"I don't eat dog food every day," Matthews told ABCNews.com "It's a special thing for me to do once in awhile to get closer to feeling like a canine. I eat the canned kind. It's not bad -- it tastes OK. I eat regular human food, too, like pizza."

Heh. He was "assigned" the wrong species at birth.

Pedigree is our dog's favorite food too. That confirms it. The dude is a dog.

ETA: I hope he doesn't shit in the yard.

I think that if transgender identification (normally) happens from a very small subsection of the brain that has been maped to the for the opposite gender then there is no way it is otherwise pathological. Kind of like how the speech, visual and motor sections of the brain are specialized gender identity may have a specialized section in the brain.

However, there may also be transgenders who have that part of the brain in the cisgender mode but have a whole bunch of other stuff going on to make them seem like "hardwired" transgenders. Those folks may need therapy.

It does center around the issue of "who is he hurting"? If he feels happy acting like a seven year old girl and doesn't insist on getting discount movie tickets and the like to have people lose money accomodating him, then so fucking what? I feel more offended seeing a woman wearing a niqab than than I am seeing a man wearing a dress and a bow in his hair, but my negative, positive or neutral reaction shouldn't be an influencing factor in how either of them want to express themselves.

I saw a news report this morning about a guy in Ukraine who wanders around all day every day in a Darth Vader costume. That's kind of cool to me once every few years when a new Star Wars movie comes out and kind of freaky to me the rest of the time. He likes doing it, though, and nothing else matters. Except, of course, when Hayden Christansen comes to town and he gets arrested because he feels obligated to bitchslap the guy a few times for fucking up his idol's backstory.

I suppose it comes down to whether or not it creates some dysfunction. In some senses it can feel like you've lost a huge chunk of your life if you come out as trans when you're older. I sort of skimmed the video, but it seems like she doesn't believe she is a six-year-old child so much as she's going back and enjoying some of those experiences she lost out on in her actual childhood as best she can. She's had a rough go. It seems to be therapeutic.

We have the St Cloud Superman.

Well, he had seven kids and a wife, and he left them so he could be a "little girl". So, I suppose you could make the case that he was hurting his family by abandoning them. But other than that, I guess, more power to him, if it makes him feel better.

I identify as 'billionaire straight male'. I am suing the banks for misrepresenting my account balances and poverty shaming me.

According to her, she was rejected by her family, after which she attempted suicide twice. I doubt we're going to get the other side of the story, but it is a sadly plausible scenario. We can speculate on whether or not she abandoned her family, or her family abandoned her, or if the truth is somewhere in between, but without facts, what's it worth? If you have those facts, perhaps that's a better way to make a case than mere supposition.

I suppose so. But is it a good therapy or a bad one? This guy could be a psychologist's wet dream.

I also thought about trans-gender re-assignment surgery for the OP. As I understand, it requires quite extensive psychological screening before surgery is considered appropriate. I wonder how this six year old persona would do getting through this process.

It depends on where you are. She's in Toronto. Ontario seems to be on the verge of revising it's policies, but even under the current standards, I don't believe 'extensive' psychological screening is required.

Probably fine. I don't get the impression from the interview that she harbours delusions about her actual age. She holds a job and seemingly acknowledges the reality of her situation. Being able to play in this role seems to offer her something which I don't particularly understand, but from her comments, it really does seem to be play or a role she's adopted. She interacts with the grand child of her adoptive parents, and they play. At first Stefoknee was eight while the granddaughter seven. When the granddaughter wanted to be the older sister, Stefoknee adopted the role of a six-year-old. It's not like she's asserting some firm identity of actually being six-year-old.

There are 'gatekeepers' to getting certain gender confirming surgeries, and surgeons themselves will often have their own minimum standards before agreeing to operate. Largely they want to be certain that the person in question is sufficiently competent and informed to consent to the operation, and also that their dysphoria is persistent enough to warrant this treatment. Being highly eccentric shouldn't preclude a person in itself.
