Shortly after the New York Magazine reporter broke the news on Twitter, 21st Century Fox CEO Rupert Murdoch put out a statement confirming Shine’s resignation. In addition to Shine’s resignation, Murdoch also announced that Suzanne Scott would be taking over as the president of programming, while Jay Wallace would take over as president of news.
....

And it looks like Sean Insanity is about to quit Faux also.

.....
opular Fox News nighttime host Sean Hannity may leave the conservative news network as early as after this evening’s broadcast following Monday’s resignation of Fox News co-president Bill Shine, reports the Daily Beast.
According to the Beast, sources at the network state that negotiations between Hannity’s lawyers and the network could end this week with Hannity off the air by Friday. Another source said Hannity could say his farewells this evening.
Hannity is known to be very close to Shine, once saying the network ousting him would be the “end of FNC as we know it.”
According to New York Magazine editor Gabriel Sherman, Fox sources say Hannity has a “key man clause” in his Fox contract that would allow him to leave the network at any time.
.....

Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye!

Oh huzzah. I hope it keeps on going and finally changes their vile network away from fomenter of hate.

What I really think will happen is that a new, even more conservative network is in the works.

So, I doubt anyone is going to be needing to peddle his resume...

My guess is he'll hitch up with Rebel Media or some other conservative media rising star.

One of the things that made Faux a real political powerhouse was that anybody who got cable got Faux. Beyond basic cable, if you wanted MSNBC you had to pay extra. Faux was easy to consume. If you had to pay to get Palin, Mark Levine, Glenny the Bunk, Sean Insanity et al,, each taking a subscription, it becomes a zero sum game.

Meanwhile, Suzanne Scott will take over as president of programming and a little googling seems to indicate she was part of the problem at Faux, and in no way can be called a solution.

That's part of it, but I don't think it's the whole picture. The average FOX viewer is a fucking dinosaur and likely has enough free time and income to pay for a subscription. The main reason FOX has succeeded is because they realized that being loud is more important in American media than being right. O'Reilly embodied this perfectly. Him leaving is a blow to the network's ability to poison national discourse, and Hannity leaving is even better. But they'll never go away. And everyone who gets ousted from the company is still going to get their golden parachute. A minor victory compared to all the damage FOX has done, and far from justice.

It sounds like the auditors are finished and Ruperts have finally learned how much Roger Ailes' frat house has cost them. Now they are looking at the people still standing and asking the embarrassing questions, "How much did you know about this, and how long did you know it?" This is just an old fashioned purge. It's seen in every corporation after some incredible fuck up shoves the CEO out the door. All the people who facilitated the disaster have to too, as soon as stability is assured.

It is a purge, and the corporate culture may change with regards to things like sexual harassment, but I'd be surprised if the ideological bent of Fox News changed at all. They replaced O'Reilly with Tucker Carlson. If they have to replace Hannity it will be with another blowhard. Rest assured they're combing the landscape to find someone to fill Megyn Kelly's shoes, and it will probably be someone younger, more blonde, and more shrill. I hear Tomi Lahren is available.

I don't expect Fox News to change its editorial outlook. From what I've read about Rupert Murdoch, he has a puritanical streak and the idea of his executives trading sex for promotions probably rattled his cage more than he let on. They'll keep going until they feel like the organization is staffed by "good" people.

As long as Fox and Friends are still around, I stand by the network.
