Feminists:" Air Conditioning Is Sexist!" (Seriously)

I don't sit here complaining about how women have it so terribly in America while simultaneously refusing to name a better country to move to.

If all feminists went to Iraq, then came back to the U.S., feminism would be dead in America.

But then you'd have no purpose in life.

You know what they say....small joke = small mind.

Is that what "they" say? Funny, I've never heard anyone ever say that. And it would come as quite a shock to just about every single comedian in the world, since very few ever tell "big" jokes, whatever that may be. And does that equate with a "big mind"?

Please, regale us all of the "they" you refer to who say such things as "small joke = small mind."

Since this thread is, you know, what "they" say, utterly pointless cuck drivel.

Are you suggesting that the women who are saying AC is sexist is drivel? I agree.

They used the wrong term. I do understand that women can be colder than men. Absolutely, sure. But, this absolutely has nothing to do with sexism. It's like they are becoming parodies of themselves. They HAD to know labeling it "sexist" would make right-wingers laugh until the cows come home.

Nobody even mentioned the fact that these women are complaining about the AC while in other countries little girls are killed for trying to go to school.

Just as nobody even mentioned that while YOU were typing that sentence over a hundred people were murdered on this planet! YOU MURDERING BASTARD! HOW THE FUCK COULD YOU ALLOW ALL THOSE PEOPLE TO BE MURDERED WHILE YOU JUST SAT THERE TYPING!!!?????

Hell yeah! Because all those women would be like "there is no fracking way I'm going to let those mascu-bastards enslave women in this country!" and they'd pull out the assault rifles they used when they escaped the Taliban and destroy the Patriarchy. Feminism would cease to exist because it would have fulfilled its purpose.

I am Woman, hear my M16 with attached M203 grenade launcher roar!

I don't think the Feminists have thought this through.

According to them, and I'm not sure I agree, women freeze faster and men overheat taster, so there is a dilema over the AC in offices.

So either women can wear more clothing, or men can wear less.

Do any of these feminists really want fat sweaty topless stinky men walking around the office? Its't putting on a sweater or something preferable to that?

Feminism will never cease to exist by being satisfied in fulfilling its purpose. The goalposts will ever shift further along. Even if you had a world where women consisted of 90% of the powerful in society, there would still be women complaining about patriarchy. There is too much of an industry around it and too much to lose for Feminism to ever cease being completely.

Good.

I'd hate it if my sweet shooting skills got rusty. And what's the point of buying grenades in bulk if I don't get to use them blowing the shit out of mascu-bastard compounds in Idaho?

I know women can do this because my office is more than half women. It's such a pity you can't imagine women dressing to suit the temperature without looking like a cold mess.

LOL. “Cold Mess.”

The general rule of thumb is that men tend to be warmer than women in most settings. In an office setting, it makes sense if men are required (by custom or rules) to wear suits/jackets/dress shirt/undershirt/tie, although the differential may not be so great if women are also wearing jackets. IMO, if someone is cold, they can wear a jacket or sweater. Even in the privacy of your own home, there's only so much clothing one can remove. You can't undress more than completely nude, which is inappropriate in the workplace and not very practical most of the time at home. But that's written by someone who has always preferred cooler temps and is typically more indifferent to the cold than most other people.

Exactly. Standard men's business attire is warmer than women's business attire. The logical solution is to put on a sweater or the like.

What's sexist is the attire, not the air conditioner.

Fortunately, another side benefit of being a software developer is a relaxed dress codes for men. While I still am not allowed to wear shorts to work in my current job, I certainly do not have to wear a suit. Jeans and a T-shirt are the norm around here, and I do occasionally get cold at work. For that reason, I keep a hoody draped over the back of my chair, and most of my co-workers, men and women, do the same. That is another one of those quirks of working in software development, no one even gives you a second glance if you walk around the office wearing a hoody all day.

Yup. Many, many moons ago I got a good illustration. A trade show targeted mostly at developers. The developers were dressed in all sorts of casual ways, the managers of developers were mostly in business attire. While the exhibitors obviously preferred to talk to the guys in suits they weren't dismissing us as not being prospects--it's just a developer likely only represents one sale, a manager might buy several copies. You could also see the difference in how they spoke--to get a sale to those of us in jeans meant being technical, to get a sale to suits meant talking big picture, not technical details.

I wouldn't even say there's a "standard" women's business attire, and therefore no standard warmth level.

Women need to be smartly dressed in a professional office but smartly dressed can be a pantsuit, a dress, a shirt and skirt, with no jacket or a 3/4 jacket or a full sleeve jacket. The shirt can be short sleeved or 3/4 or full sleeve. They can wear stockings or trousers or have bare legs.

I worked in an office that was 100 percent female, and we still fought over the A/C in the summer and heat in the winter. I'm extremely cold natured and the two women I shared the office with were the opposite of me. In the winter I would wear wool suits with long silk underwear and I was still cold. They would wear sweaters and complain they were too hot. Why didn't they wear lighter clothing? So, this isn't always a male/female problem. It's a hot natured/cold natured problem.

In what world do men still wear suits to work, other than in banking? My husband never had to wear a suit to work since the late 70s. Casual wear is pretty much the rule in the South. But, I do think we need to leave the air set at warmer temperatures due to the environment, not sexism. I leave mine set on 78 or 79 and I turn it off at night. The husband never complains. We just sleep under the ceiling fan and open the windows. When I go shopping or to a restaurant, I always carry a sweater with me or I will freeze. Yesterday in a grocery store, I saw a little boy put his arms up under his short sleeve shirt because he was cold. I knew what they feels like. I'll take being hot over being cold anytime. Leaving northern Jersey permanently to head south in January was one of the ten happiest days in my life. :D

So exactly how many feminists are saying A/C is sexist?

How many christians are saying they are the most persecuted people in the world?

Definitely lawyers heading into court, and in my experience, those in mid to upper management in most settings but your point is taken: the workplace is much more casual. I visited an old friend in DC and before my trip, I asked about wardrobe, etc. I was surprised to learn that most people dress in jeans and invest in expensive sneakers. My friend and her husband are both in IT but they work with major govt. contractors all the time and jeans are what they wear for meetings with others wearing: jeans. For official meetings, on Capitol Hill, etc. it is still more business attire/suits. When I lived there, it was much more formal than that. I only saw tourists on the streets wearing jeans back when.
