Florida Woman Charged With Threatening Insurance Company With "Delay, Deny, Depose"

Evidently the corporation felt scared and hurt and called the police on this mother of three.
What does her reproductive status have to do with anything?
The po-po then went and got her and told her she couldn't upset ins. corporations anymore. Anyone who makes ins. corporation scared and hurt will be arrested and charged. So y'all better be nice and say nice things to insurance companies.
Given that an insurance executive was just murdered in cold blood by a perp using those words, it is not unreasonable that the insurance company people feel threatened by this woman. It's not "corporation" that is scared, it's real flesh and blood people who are part of it that are.
If you cut them, do they not bleed?
She didn't specifically threaten anyone. She simply said, "you people are next". That isn't a terrorist threat. My understanding of the law concerning a terroristic threat is that it must be targeted at a individual. So, if she had said she was going to kill Bill Smith and Bill Smith was the CEO of the insurance company, that could be perceived as a terroristic threat. She was just angry and made a vague comment that "you people are next". I don't think the arrest was reasonable and I hope the charges will soon be dropped. Plus, she has apologized. She obviously wan't planning on killing anyone. She was just upset and yelled out something that should not have been taken so seriously. She could have simply been told to watch her language, so people don't feel threatened, considering the recent murder of the CEO of UHC.

So who specifically did she threaten? No-one as far as I could tell.

This statute makes it a crime to threaten someone with death or serious bodily injury, either verbally, in writing, or by electronic communication. Violation of this statute can result in felony charges.
The problem with it having to be a specific person is that threats can be non-specific while still being real. It's a threat to kill executives.

No, she did NOT threaten to kill anyone.

You can say a lot of things, but for a threat to be criminal it has to be credible or cause reasonable people to fear for their lives. Was it reasonable for this customer service rep (who was probably hundreds if not thousands of miles away from the customer) to fear this woman in Florida who did not know who this rep was or where this rep worked or lived?

She said "you people are next". Next for what? Next to be killed.

What if a white person said to a black person he was furious at: "Swinging from a tree. You're gonna be next!" Is this a threat that he should be arrested for? I think a case could be made that this is a threat that is at least worth investigating for criminal violation.

What if a white person said that? Seems to me a whole lotta white people said pretty much that. In fact, that was the de facto legal system in large parts of the US.

Unfortunately, things are not as different t as we all like to pretend.

We elected thugs to bring things back to that state of being for a whole lotta people: people of color, people not belonging to the right religion, women, LGBTQIA, people whose great grandparents may not have been born in the US.

Funny how the oligarchy thought it could declare open warfare on the people and that there would be no response.

This is what Trump has done. No: this is what Putin has done and now that he’s not doing so great, all of those illegal aliens like Musk have jumped on board. But let’s go back to the root: this is what Reagan started.

When we have elected as leader someone who has been convicted of 34 felonies, who is an adjudicated rapist, likely the rapist of young girls, a tax fraud ( but Hunter!!!) a bankrupt, a stinking, drooling senile criminal who openly threatens to prosecute people he sees as enemies or rivals: what can we expect. Trump is leading by example.

I should apologize or at least offer a disclaimer: I am feeling an overwhelming amount of grief and anger about the results of the last election and I find that it is really permeating my posts. I do think Im absolutely right but I should probably be less…..you know.

Gramma said, "Speak the truth and shame the Devil!"

I don't have a problem with shaming the Devil, even figuratively :giggle:

Your feelings are completely understandable. I find what is happening in the US bizarre, and have empathy for those actually living there. It is a horrific thing to happen in any nation.
