Poor, poor Kim Jong Un. He's so misnuderstood. Thank goodness he has the fine people at FOX to defend him and make him look more reasonable.

Those evil libtards bash him unfairly because they are so biased. [/conservolibertarian]

If they're willing to defend actual flag-waving Nazis, then we should not be surprised they would also defend Kim.

Thought this was a bit more hyperbole from you Underseer. Unbelievably sad that it wasn't.

Pretty sure there's still a fair bit of hyperbole, it's just not all on Underseer this time ;)

Reading through the exchange, it doesn't sound like he's defending Kim, or even rationalizing anything he's done. He's giving what he believes is part of Kim's motivation for agreeing to meet. In particular that he might be tired of killing people all the time :p

AINSLEY EARHARDT (CO-HOST): Why do you think he agreed to this meeting -- Kim Jong Un?

PETE HEGSETH (FOX & FRIENDS WEEKEND CO-HOST): Kim Jong Un? I think he wants a picture with the American president.

STEVE DOOCY (CO-HOST): He's hungry.

HEGSETH: Yeah -- the sanctions are having massive effect there, there's no doubt. The Chinese have put the screws to him on that. The Chinese are still playing a double game absolutely. And then I think there is probably a point at which the guy who wants to meet with Dennis Rodman and loves NBA basketball and loves western pop culture, probably doesn't love being the guy that has to murder his people all day long. Probably wants some normalization. And let's give it to him if we can make the world safer.

Still kind of a weird thing to say... just not as nefarious as characterized.

Apparently, money soothes a sore conscience because, for the life of me, I can't figure out how these people look at themselves in the mirror every morning.

NOBODY believes they're the bad guy.
I'm sure Baghdad Bob thought that everything was fine in Baghdad as well.

Doesn't change the fact that nearly all the time, each person thinks that they are right, and that their perspective is correct and moral and acceptable and justifiable. With the exception of an extraordinary few outliers... nobody ever believes that they are wrong about their beliefs. This is pretty basic human nature.

That generally means that the person you're arguing with, who you believe to be dishonest, nefarious, and an odious human... they believe that they are in the right and that you're full of crap ;).

Their perspective? They are told what their perspective is.

I don't understand this. Who tells them their perspective? Their perspective is their perspective, their beliefs are their beliefs. It seems like you're saying that people you think are the bad guys don't have their own viewpoints? Or perhaps that you can tell what their viewpoints are better than them? Neither of those make any sense to me, so I'm pretty sure I'm missing a core concept in this exchange right now.

Yup, that much is clear.

 Well. Thanks for helping clear up my confusion I guess. Glad you could score some internet points for a clever zinger. Happy to help bolster your ego.
