I know my niece posted something online that was dispiriting and I messaged her about it, kept it brief, but tried to sell the importance of humanity for Gazans and Israelis. Some people are a bit too hard on "Israel" rather than Netanyahu. It is a very complicated situation and people presume too much intimate knowledge of the conditions on the ground.

The Israelis shouldn't be targeted and massacred, the Gazans should have a home to go to right now. We shouldn't be reducing these things to two or three word slogans or outbursts.

Hamas is the government of Gaza. They manage to take over control without much fuss. There's been no visible opposition to Hamas in Gaza. Not even among expat Palestinians. People who have nothing to fear to speak up.

Of course it's rare. There's not that many trans people. So it'll never be more than rare.

I posted it because it highlights a general trend. The lack of understanding leftists have for Palestinians and Palestinian/Arab culture. If you have progressive values, why on Earth would you align yourself with conservative extremists who want you dead? It makes no sense. We have plenty of examples of these progressive values represented in this thread.

If leftists found some progressive Palestinian organisation to get behind, that's another thing. But they don't. Because I don’t think that it is a thing. The only organisation that seems to get any traction right now in Palestine are those that are Islamofascist.

It reminds me when I read a feminist essay collection about being feminist in the 90'ies, and the Arab candidates to conferences were frustrated. Because they thought western feminists were focusing on bullshit problems. While they were more focused on not getting beaten to death by abusive husbands. The Middle-East is not like home. Its very different.

The only country that supports liberal values and human rights in the Middle-East is Israel. And lots of people here are criticising them for fighting for their survival. Israel didn't start this last war. They're not aggressors and they are not barbaric. Hamas is a barbaric organisation.

What do you think will happen if Israel is pressured into allowing Hamas to reestablish themselves? Do you think it'll be a continuation of terrorism, murder and kidnapping? Queers are not the same thing as trans. This is my tribe. So I can talk about this group with some confidence and insight. After the pomo feminists flipped the hierarchy in the 00'ies and made anyone considered privileged persona non grata, the progressive straight people in that community glummed onto the queer identity, kissed a boy once, and now could claim being an oppressed minority. And loudly joined in on the down with the CIS- patriarchy.

Today "Queer" has become synonymous with straight. It also means boring. People who cling to the queer identity today do so because they are boring as fuck, and think it makes them interesting. It doesn't. The genuinely queer people today use other labels. The same fake "queer" people go on and on about their various diagnosises, all while their lives are highly functional.

There's few things I despise more than privileged people pushing out minorities stealing the victimhood badge, without earning it. Its like they want to take everything away from minorities. Everything.

I can also talk with confidence about LGBT Israel. My bisexual Israeli ex wife lived openly as a lesbian in Jerusalem. Israel is full of Arab LGBT refugees who have escaped persecution in surrounding territories. They are very much welcome in Israel and are happy that Israel exists. Many are Palestinian.

Because the LGBT community are so welcoming and nice, they don't call out these obvious fucking charlatans. Which are now the majority of the scene. So the actual Queers have to organise private parties where the fake queers aren't invited. Like I am doing this weekend. Its my 50th birthday party. It'll be a house full of perverts enjoying life. I'm pretty sure we'll have too much fun for anyone to discuss anything as boring as politics
