It's alive and it's coming to kill us all... the onslaught of Christmas music that is so horrendous that even the funny Xmas songs of our childhood make us want to tear our eyes out of their sockets and stuff them into our ear canals.
So the question is, who is producing good Xmas music these days? There has to be someone!
I've found Over The Rhine, who have two Xmas albums, has gotten it right by mainly being piano and jazzy, which is the solemn tone needed for good Xmas music. Don't get me wrong, there are good upbeat Xmas songs, but either I'm getting old or the new ones lack the presentation of say a Dolly Parton's Winter Wonderland or *insert name*'s Felix Navidad song.
So, is anyone else producing Xmas music in the last ten years that doesn't lead to you needing to replace the Home Theater receiver that you just plowed a sledgehammer through?
