GOP War On Voting And Democracy

And what does Bezos have to do with the evil GOP rat fuckery to steal elections by supressing Democratic voters? Bezos sucks also. And that most certainly does not excuse the unpatriotic GOP.
I think the point is that no one is more anti-Trump than Bezos. Yet even Bezos knows that mail in votes are extremely fraudulent. Which should tell you that the Republicans (and Trump) were (and still are) correct about all the fraud that can happen with mail in voting.

Their bill is not to disenfranchise any voters so much as to prevent voting fraud in the future.

You in the market for any bridges? I got tons for sale.

Which should tell you that the Republicans (and Trump) were (and still are) correct about all the fraud that can happen with mail in voting.

They just weren’t correct that fraud actually happened in any significant way.

Let's be a little patient here and give RVonse some time. I'm sure that he'll come up with some evidence of the massive voter fraud that occurred in 2020 and how mail in ballots are so sinister. Surely none can be so dogmatic without some evidence on their side?

But we all already know that the fraud only occurs if your candidate didn't win. If your candidate was victorious there wasn't any fraud.

Good heavens! Mail in votes are "extremely" fraudulent (your words)! I'm sure that you have evidence for this? Links? I'm shocked and dismayed!

We don' need no steenkin' EVIDENCE!

We have ALLEGATIONS!
People are saying there was fraud! Lots of people! I don't know, but that's what people are saying. Many people! Massive fraud!
There are allegations all over the place! Ballots dumped by the thousands! They're dumping them in rivers! People are delivering vans full of Biden ballots from who knows where!
They're pulling suitcases out from under the tables in the counting rooms! MILLIONS of ballots! There's no way 82 million people voted for Biden, so there's your proof!
It's FRAUD, and we're going to show that the election was STOLEN!*

(* just don't hold your breath, because we don't have to show anything, we just have to keep SAYING "fraud!")

Hours after President Biden declared that "democracy has prevailed" during his inaugural address, longtime Republican strategist Karl Rove urged Republicans to pressure GOP election officials and legislators to create "a model election code" to reconsider the laws surrounding 2020's two voting options that led to the presidential election's record turnout.
...
These steps and others, such as Republicans in Wisconsin (and Pennsylvania) talking about changing the way their states choose presidential electors, or Georgia possibly turning the secretary of state from an elective to an appointed office filled by the legislature, seek to change the laws so Republicans can win elections, Daley said.
"Republicans talk a lot about following the rule of law, but what they are trying to do is change the law to make it make it easier to do in 2024 what they were unable to do in 2020," he said.
...

Already the GOP is planning ways to discourage Democratic voters in future elections.

And much more important, we have FAITH. Because as Donald Trump got down humbly on his knees and prayed on Lord Jesus, I prayed too. I threw it all on the bosom of Jesus, and a vision came, and the Beast assaulted the Vestal Virgin, and the Beast was Biden, and the Virgin was Trump. Trump, a Virgin, a Lamb, a Sacrifice to bring forth the Judgment of God. And the ArMAGAddon commenced, and the Vestal Virgin commanded the armies of the Lord, and the Beast was smote on the head, and dark blood ran down both sides of its head. No, wait, that was Rudy. And the ArMAGAddon commenced, and a hand appeared and wrote on the wall, and the words were Minnie, Minnie, Tinkle, Upper Michigan, which means, Vestal Virgin, you have been weighed in the balance, and you are one fat orange fuck. No, wait, and the ArMAGAddon commenced, and...I am weakening from the inspiration and I must pray in solitude.

I've voted in union elections many times. Union voting doesn't really have any of checks on it that government elections have. The mail-in voting fraud bullshit needs to stop.

No, it tells you that the only when greedy assholes are in the minority and thus have motive to disenfranchise voters and destroy actual democracy do they oppose mail in voting.

Yes. This has been an ongoing project of the GOP for years. It has nothing to do really with Trump, it was a project that preceded Trump's election, and did not rely on Trump's approval or actions. The outrageous attempt of Trump and his allies to steal the election from Biden was a project of it's own that had not much to do with what the GOP has been doing for years with quite a bit of success. It is simply now the GOP sees it is more urgent to ramp up efforts and stop all efforts to make it easier to register, vote by mail, and stop GOP voter suppression efforts.

The Democrats MUST ramp up efforts to halt these efforts on the federal, state and local level. Election stealing by the GOP must end.

Fair enough. Trump losing just allows them to make fanciful claims upon which they can state their evidence for why they need to continue to close down the voting process. I agree with what you say here and it's a tough fight.

As soon as Biden and the two Democrats won in Georgia, our Republican Congress got to work trying to suppress the vote. I don't know if they've been able to pass any of their stupid ideas yet. First they wanted to do away with not having a reason for voting absentee, then they wanted to get rid of all the drop off ballot boxes. The last time I read about it, they were trying to figure out a way to make absentee voters attach a copy of their ID to the ballot. I think they might decide to only require voters to put their ID number of their absentee ballot. Not sure if any of this has been voted on yet, but Republicans know that when more people vote, the odds are that the Democrats will win more elections. That is why they don't like making voting easy for the majority of people.

Then you are the one I need to ask a specific question.

I live in Georgia, one of the states that Trump and company said where massive voter fraud occurred with the mail-in ballots. I voted by mail. I had to fill out an application for the ballot. I had to sign the application. When the election board received my application for the vote by mail ballot they checked the voter registration database to see if #1 if I was registered to vote, #2 if I still lived in the same address that I voted from before, and #3 they compared my signature that I signed the voter roll before, and if all of these matched I was sent a ballot.

If #1 didn't check and voter registration was still open I was told to register to vote and to re-submit an application. If #2 was correct I was told to file a change of address form to make sure that I received the correct ballot. If number #3 was in question I could either go to the county courthouse to prove who I am who I say that I am by producing one or more of a list of documents, a driver's license, voter ID card, passport, a lease, a utility bill, etc.

When I got my absentee ballot I fill it out and signed it and I also signed the envelope. When the county received the ballot they scanned the registration bar code on the outside of the envelope that identified it was sent to me and allowed them to check once again my signature. If they confirmed my signature then the ballot was accepted to be counted on election day. If the signature doesn't match the same options are given to me as in #3 above or voting in person.

When the questions came up about massive voter fraud in the majority-black countries, the secretary of state audited the vote in all of the counties, not just the majority-black counties, much to his credit. This meant that the signature verification was repeated using the signature on the absentee ballot or the poll book signature in the case of in-person voting to confirm the paper copy of those votes.

You seem to know much more about how voter fraud is committed. I don't understand how to commit voter fraud with these checks in place. Please explain how massive fraud was committed using mail-in ballots. Fraudulent ballots that weren't caught in the audit.

I also have to point out that the reason that the GOP started this lie about massive voter fraud was to disenfranchise millions of voters including me. If you believe that it isn't a lie, prove it by explaining how massive fraud was done that bypassed the checks that were in place.

Please explain how massive fraud was committed using mail-in ballots. Fraudulent ballots that weren't caught in the audit.

RVonse cannot explain that (Are you serious?).
But in case you didn't know. here's how:

1) State publicly that massive fraud will be occurring with mail-in ballots, using the biggest bully pulpit in the country.
2) Repeat the above ad nauseum for about two years before the election.
3) Once the election is in process, keep saying "people are saying they see massive fraud".
4) On the evening of Election Day, declare that you won.
5) File 50-70 frivolous lawsuits (none actually claiming fraud) and point to the existence of lawsuits as proof of mail in ballot fraud. (none of your stoopids are going to read court transcripts)
5b) Keep repeating that you won, and if people don't believe you, say it was "in a landslide".
6) Keep holding rallies and urging people to stand up and fight 'for their Country', alleging that the election was stolen
...and finally, when all else fails
7) Call a "big, wild" rally on the date of certification of the election see if you can get a few thousand of your stupidest, most militant followers to forcibly break into the Capitol to stop the certification of the electoral vote count, thereby staging a coup overturning the election results, trashing the building, killing some people and ideally, murdering the VP who was going to certify the vote as well as the opposition leadership.

Even if that doesn't work, by now all the sound and fury will have convinced most of the Stoopids that mail-in ballot fraud must be a real thing, 'cuz otherwise "how come all the fuss?"

And THAT is how fraud with mail in ballots is committed.

H.R. 1 and S. 1 are the first Democratic bills proposed for the 2021 legislative year. Both are bills to deal with the problem of protecting voters rights and free elections from the GOP. In years past McConnell made sure voter reform bills never made it o the floor in the Senate. But that is no longer up the McConnell. What we have to fear now is failure to eliminate the filibuster rules and to see the GOP strangle the Senate bill. and make no mistake, the GOP does not want these bills to become law. Among provisions of these bills is to make redistricting nonpartisan and to eliminate extreme gerrymandering. These bills also will remove obstacles to registering to vote and will encourage early voting and voting by mail. Keep an eye on these bills and efforts by the GOP to kill them.

....
The 2021 legislative sessions have begun in all but six states, and state lawmakers have already introduced hundreds of bills aimed at election procedures and voter access — vastly exceeding the number of voting bills introduced by this time last year.
In a backlash to historic voter turnout in the 2020 general election, and grounded in a rash of baseless and racist allegations of voter fraud and election irregularities, legislators have introduced three times the number of bills to restrict voting access as compared to this time last year. Twenty-eight states have introduced, prefiled, or carried over 106 restrictive bills this year (as compared to 35 such bills in fifteen states on February 3, 2020).

Election thieves, vote stealers, unpatriotic politicians.

I have seen MAGAts say HR1 would enshrine Democratic vote theft into law.

I have seen MAGAts say HR1 would enshrine Democratic vote theft into law.
An AZ lawmaker has introduced legislation to allow the state legislature to overturn the results of an election.
Guess the party! Guess the party!

Saw that on All In with Chris Hayes, then googled it, and it's no exaggeration at all. This is the GOP, the bulk of the party, grimly determined to not just rule as a minority but to undo the election process entirely. An Arizona Dem, commenting on the proposed bill, said that it didn't go far enough -- why didn't the GOP caucus just go ahead and propose having no vote for President at all? The only good Republican is an ex-Republican.
