Simple question: can anyone explain why a democrat who gropes (Franken and Conyers) must step down. But a GOPer who does the same or worse (Trump and Moore) is allowed to remain in government? Bill Clinton gets impeached, Trump gets adoration. Why the double standard?

The point is innocent until proven guilty. The media has long known that this does not fully apply. The maxim here is to drum up business is, All you have to do is accuse No need to prove a thing every time.

But that's unrelated to what the media is actually doing. They're not just publishing accusations, as was shown when that lady tried to plant the fake Roy Moore story. They're actually doing their job and validating the claims before presenting information which they've been able to verify.

The Dems have decided to take the moral high ground no matter what the repugs do. I believe its a conscious decision based on many weeks of discussion mostly among woman legislators. Not to be the "holier than thou" party but one of integrity. The "ground zero religious" freedom followers are sheep. They want someone else to think for them and the media to lead them, so they don't have to have any conscious or integrity - it's too much work on their part. They are un-evolved humans on the lower end of the evolutionary chain.

I think that's a little cruel, but not inaccurate in substance. Rather than "un-evolved" (all extant species can rightly be construed as equally 'evolved') I'd call them ignorant, brainwashed, un-educated, illiterate or whatever. So even if they wanted to think for themselves, they are unequipped to do so. It's not that they don't want to do the work, it they have no clue that there's work to be done, and even if they did, no clue how to do it.

As far as moral high ground goes, yeah, the Dems are determined to take every possible advantage of the optics of seizing the high ground, but they're politicians, and it rings hollow to me; I suspect that few if any Republicans will be swayed - or effected at all - by it, no matter what.

Because they are lower on the evolutionary scale.

This is really off topic, but: THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS AN EVOLUTIONARY SCALE! (This almost deserves multiple exclamation marks, but I'm with Terry Pratchett when it comes to those.)

The idea of of the Great Scale of Being, with lowly rocks and plants at the bottom, animals rising up, humans as the missing link to the celestial spheres, angles after them, and God himself on top, is firmly rooted in pre-Darwinian thinking. Using "scale" in the same sentence as "evolution" shows one hasn't fully understood the latter.

The late Gould did a good essay on this.

Evolution has no more "scale" to it than any other natural process. It is simply what happens to any population of imperfectly self-replicating organisms.
