Great news! Over 20 dead in Orlando Night Club!

Pastor Anderson basically said that the shooter should not have shot up the club, because even though they all were pedophile and moral reprobates, vigilante justice is not allowed now. He did not go through the "proper channels", which means?!?

Presumably he means the State should be doing the executing.

Wrong Derec. As usual, you are wrong. He did not say, nor imply, "white people are the real problem". This was in response to asshole Trump trumpeting about his *plan* to ban Muslims from entering the country in the immediate aftermath of the Orlando shooting. Trump, who has remained silent about the LA gunman and the other Orlando gunman

Which means he wants the U.S. government to kill gays, not ISIS sympathizers

it seems the shooter is a fundamentalist muslim

Great! So a US born citizen has the name Omar and his parents are from Afghanistan - that means this discussion will devolve into a rant about "them moooslim terrorists" while the lives lost in the nightclub will be ignored, the numbers of guns this man had access to will be ignored, the white shooter who murdered the singer will be ignored.

And what the hell is going on Tampa Bay? Why are these shooters driving to Orlando to murder people? I've heard of driving across county/state lines to buy guns, but not to use them in shooting sprees.

Of course it will become about those "mooslim" terrorists--because this was clearly one of them.

No, this guy was a pretender. A fake. A fan club member as opposed to a member of the band.

He called 911 to pledge his "allegiance" to ISIS. Emergency services doesn't exactly forward calls to the Islamic State.

He's an ISIS terrorist in the same way that John Hinkley was Jodie Foster's boyfriend. He sure wanted to be, but he was just trying to impress someone that wouldn't otherwise give him the time of day.

He was nothing of the kind. "Pretend" terrorists don't kill 50 people. Real ones do it.

The fact that he wanted to hitch his wagon to the ISIS star does not make him not a Muslim, and it does not make him not a terrorist.

Court records show he was sentenced to a year in state prison and placed on probation. Under the deal, He agreed to forfeit all weapons during his term of probation.
http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-gay-pride-la-weapons-20160612-snap-story.html well that clearly didn't happen

Would you say the same for a man pledging allegiance to the Northwest Front, Golden Dawn etc... but who had never officially corresponded with them?

So then Tim McVeigh was a Christian US Army Veteran Terrorist?

Jodie Foster solicited people she didn't know to go and assassinate people for her, did she?
Also, it's Hinckley.

Was he a Christian? Was he a US Army vet? Did these facts shape his thinking and were they an influencing factor on his actions? If so, then yes, and if not...no.

It's not clear to whom this is addressed. Not a single person in this thread called this man an ISIS terrorist.

To address the last, first - I know how it is spelled. I am mocking the speech patterns and spelling of those who get their hair on fire anytime anyone with dark skin and/or a "funny" name is the topic - hence the quotations.

The number and types of guns and ammunition matters because it happens with alarming frequency in this country, and we do absolutely nothing about it. As long as guns exist, there will never be a 100% fool-proof means of preventing tragedies like this, but the lack of political will to even try (as other countries do try) is appalling

This seems to be a lone wolf type of shooting, not a conspiracy like the concert shootings in Paris. This is an American specialty that is related to the easy access to weapons here. It should be obvious that the easier it is to buy weapons specifically designed to kill people the more mass killings like this you are going to have.

We don't have the percentage of Muslims that Europe does, it's harder for them to get a group together.

at 1:55 of this video Obama from June 2nd Obama is talking about known ISIL sympathizers on the no-fly list who can't be on a no-gun list because of the NRA. Gripping stuff. Not sure what my opinion is about it.

Oh for fuck's sake! The left has really jumped the shark.

Bombing people has fucking killed millions in the Middle East and the fucking vacuum from Bush's war with Iraq is partially responsible for ISIS. So, yeah, Americans are not completely innocent, especially the torturous Bush-supporter fuckers who heard from God they should shock-and-awe civilians. Just because they control states, doesn't make their bullshit any less stinky. It doesn't make them better just because they give the President power to do it while voting with suits and ties on.
You forgot Ronald Raygun contribution. He is the one who started Afghan War and parents of that motherfucker came/were invited to US on his watch.

As much as I am for gun control, this case is not about gun control. Determined terrorist will find a way to kill a lot of people regardless of gun control.

So you accept the logic that if we can't stop all of the shootings that there is no reason to try to stop most of the shootings?

You have a hidden assumption here: that guns don't have an upside.

In practice the number of people who die in these big newsworthy events is far less than the number who are saved by guns. It's just the press doesn't like reporting such things unless the shooting is questionable.

To get rid of the mass shootings would get rid of the defensive uses also--and that's a net loss for society.
