Actually, it was the other way around, Robert Lowe was in SA long before he joined Candlemass. I do like SA as well, but for some reason I am not a huge fan of the Candlemass albums he fronted.

They were such a rare breed in the genre. I doubt we'll ever again hear a band like them again. Pete Steele was unreal. I had the distinct (and brief) pleasure of doing a shot of whiskey with him and Josh Silver (keyboardist/vocalist) back in '96 when they opened up for Pantera in Kansas City. He truly was a giant in person - 6'5" at least and built like a brick. "Everything Dies" is one of their best (of many) tracks.

Actually, it was the other way around, Robert Lowe was in SA long before he joined Candlemass. I do like SA as well, but for some reason I am not a huge fan of the Candlemass albums he fronted.

I didn't realize SA went back that far! According to Encyclopaedia Metallum they were called Solitude initially, in 1988, with Lowe as vocalist, but changed their name to Solitude Aeturnus because there was another band called Solitude.

Thanks for keeping me up to speed! Imma have to check out the old stuff. I'm a HUGE fan of Lowe, and I think he's one of the greatest singers in rock music, let alone metal. Amazing voice, and his stage presence is awe-inspiring.

hehe, Ghost is awesome. I've never heard of them before but I'm digging their sound. They're definitely going on the ipod. Bands from Sweden are starting to dominate my music list. Graveyard and Greenleaf are two of my favorite stoner rock bands from there.

Also, there's a new Goatwhore song on loudwire.
 
That has a Wolves in the Throne Room ring to it. That is some black stuff I like it. Kind of black anthem-like feel, yet I can't say black metal because it is very technical and tight. I am magically getting The Amenta - Discography (2008-2011) right now. Ah it finished. Thaaanks :)
 
Flesh is Heir [2013] damn they like Shakespeare. This is the good shite. Best album, but first one I've played, so maybe not. I don't know. I have the whole collection wherefore it magically plays on my device with after dinner smoke, which is very loud. Good call thanks.
 
Smoker... about The Amenta, n0n is the best release but I couldn't argue it because I used a vintage system. Some systems made in the 80's seemed to be made for metal and rock. It had a more compressed sound that works good-like on that stereo. n0n and Ocasus were great and mechanized perfectly being commentaries on the evils of man and such. V01D is a work of evil itself. The static and white noise are perfectly placed and there seems to be more enthusiasm in Cain Cressall's voice on that one. I was really feeling it but It was 320kbps and I really need it on vinyl to experience it fully. Locally Flesh is Heir is available on vinyl for 8.88 locally so I'll have to copper that out and enjoy it at 200 damn watts.
 
Yeah I like those guys too, though I've only listened to the Vo1D album. Your replies made me want to get the other two and I'm listening to nOn right now. It sounds pretty damn good so far.

Here's another band I like though I've only got one of their albums.

 
I like melty-witchy vocals at higher pitches but this band is exactly what I'm into lately, as far as instrument playing is concerned. They probably have to nail down the bass drums.
 
Here's two bands I've recently come across that you guys might enjoy. One of my friends at work told me about Caninus today. It's a metal band with two pit bulls providing the....vocals.



The the other one, Psychostick, I saw open up for another band last week. Their music style is called comedy metal, which sounds pretty weird but that's the best way to describe it. Their songs are just about goofy subjects, and there's a lot of improvisational comedy involving the audience in between songs. It seems to work because most of the crowd was laughing their asses off throughout their entire show.

Considering the pitbulls are better vocalists than 90% of the metal (humans) out there, well done. Now, to pull it off live. Are the groupies dalmations and mangy poodles?
 
I'm not sure about what kind of groupies they have, but I would definitely go to one of their live shows. Apparently most of the human band members are also in a band called Most Precious Blood, who I've never heard of.

The Caninus is awful, and the Psychostick is even worse. If you're gonna make funny metal, at least be funny!
