How should west respond to potential (likely) Russian invasion of Ukraine?

I'm not fan of Trump. He's killed 7 or 8 drug runners. A crime in my opinion. Putin kills 7 or 8 Ukrainian civilians every single day
He did get Iranians and Houti bombed. He is threatening Venezuela and Afghans.
And your Modi meets your implied standard as well.
How? Modi killed only the terrorists of Lashkar-e-Taiyaba and Jaish-e-Muhammad. (Hafix Saeed and Masood Azhar). What was wrong in that? Both are listed as terrorists by USA also.
Alleged terrorists without a trial.

And not authorized by congress.

Critics have charged Modi with "extrajudicial killings" in lawsuits related to the Gujarat riots. Official figures cite 1,044 dead, but other sources and independent tribunal reports estimate as many as 1,926, with most victims being Muslim.
The US government has accused Indian intelligence services of orchestrating a plot to assassinate a Sikh activist on American soil, an operation allegedly sanctioned by an official close to Modi.
The Indian National Congress has accused the government of negligence and misplaced priorities following a deadly train accident in 2023.
Reporters Without Borders reported that almost half of the 28 journalists killed in India between 2014 and 2024 were investigating environmental topics, particularly illegal mining. Suspicious? Not really. To be expected actually.
Government complicity or inaction, allowing deadly communal and ethnic violence (especially against India’s religious minorities) is handwaved away.
Modi may be less malevolent than say, Trump, but he is no fucking angel.
- That is a fake accusation. He took office on 24th February as chief Minister of Gujarat for the first time and the riots happened on 28th February. He was too new to administration. Indian Supreme Court has exonerated him of all charges, and it does not do that lightly. Any Indian would believe what the Supreme Court says rather than what opposition leaders for foreign journalists say.
- If Indian government planned the murder of a Sikh separatist in USA who supports terrorist activities in India, I do not blame them. Actually, US giving him citizenship in the name of 'asylum' was an anti-Indian act. How many times FBI has done such murders?
- Indian National Congress is a dynastic party. Indian budgets have increased 3 times during Modi rule (from 204 billion USD in 2014 to 572 billion USD in 2025). Congress rues that it is not in power to siphon ever growing government funds. It may accuse Modi of anything.
- Many a times, reporters turn into blackmailers if they stumble of any secret, that results into killings. None of any such killings is by Modi government. Moreover, we do not depend on politically-motivated news from foreign agencies. Let them feed that to their western audience. We have our own robust media.
- We have some 180 million Muslims as Indian citizens, some 17% of our population. Some of them help, engage in terrorist activities. Pakistan's ISI, IS, Al-Qaeda; Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiyaba, Jaish-e-Muhammad, Hizb-ul-Mujahideen; all are active in India. When caught, they will surely get their due. I do not see anything wrong there.

Alleged terrorists without a trial.
We bombed only 2 well-known terror schools and 7 terror bases from where they sent terrorists into India. And we did this after informing them. Otherwise, the casualties would have been much higher.
Masood Azhar's family was killed because he did not think India would attack so far as his location.

I do not know the process in USA for branding individuals as Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT), but this is what Google AI says about it:

Question: Have Masood Azhar and Hafiz Saeed designated as Global terrorists by USA?

Yes, the United States has designated both Masood Azhar and Hafiz Saeed as Specially Designated Global Terrorists (SDGTs). They have also both been designated as terrorists by the United Nations.

Masood Azhar
Founder and leader: Azhar is the founder and leader of the Pakistan-based militant group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).
U.S. designation: The U.S. Department of the Treasury officially designated Masood Azhar as an SDGT in 2010.
UN designation: After years of attempts blocked by China, the UN Security Council.
Notable attacks: Azhar and his group are responsible for numerous attacks in India, including the 2001 attack on the Indian Parliament and the 2019 Pulwama attack.

Hafiz Saeed
Co-founder and leader:
Saeed co-founded Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), the militant organization responsible for the 2008 Mumbai attacks. He is also the leader of its front organization, Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD).
U.S. designation: The U.S. designated Saeed as an SDGT in May 2008, and placed a $10 million bounty on his head in 2012 for his role in the Mumbai attacks.
UN designation: Saeed was designated by the UN under UNSCR 1267 in December 2008, following the Mumbai attacks.
Status in Pakistan: Despite international designations, Saeed was released from house arrest in Pakistan multiple times, which drew strong condemnation from the U.S.. He has, however, been convicted of terror financing charges by Pakistani Courts.
