How should west respond to potential (likely) Russian invasion of Ukraine?

In other news. People discuss a video of Syrkiy's visit to western Ukraine on February 23-24, where he appears to be drunk or high. People speculate that he was celebrating February 23 (Russian Army day) :)
Old habits never die :)

I mean Russian speakers who are Ukrainian citizens living in the eastern regions of Ukraine that are currently controlled by the Russian army. Not people who were citizens of Russia at the start of the conflict. Of course the Russian army will have some people who are not ethnic Russian.
Eastern Ukraine have been fighting regime in Kiev since 2014 CIA coup.
They were absorbed into regular russian army in 2022.
Is that why so little of Eastern Ukraine behind the Russian line, and the front has gone virtually unchanged since this whole thing began?

Only Russians can view a stalled invasion as inevitable victory. But congrats on getting an Abrams tank. Too bad it was burned. Could have used it instead of those drones like a real military would.
frontline started moving rather quickly, in case you did not know.
Congratulations! Wahoo. You're making some progress against a group of people that you outnumber 5 to 1! Your side has 5 times more arms. Far far more artillery. You must be so proud of those imperialists.

And now remember that Russia "invaded" with only 40K.
Regime in Kiev has support of collective West. And has had it for 10 years.

Dude, if the Russian invasion was going as well as you've said it has been over the last two years, it'd been over roughly two years ago.

Over the last eighteen months I've been saying it has been a WWI stalemate. Over the same period of time, you were certain it was just near the tipping point. Oddly enough, the front is still kind of where it has been for that period of time, with countless people dying for postage stamps worth of territory. So you are going to have to excuse me when I take your claim with a truckload of salt.

This anniversary that just passed shows how powerful propaganda can be when there's no opposition to the official state narrative. Two years of a war that was supposed to be over in 2 days...or 2 weeks...or 2 months. Russians like Barbos watch while their government shifts the goalposts over and over again, and take that as proof that "things are moving along!"

The ones who see through the ruse? We've seen those interviews on the streets with Russians who are opposed to the war...the reporter asks a question, and suddenly they become very, very reluctant to answer. "Well, nobody likes war, but..." On some level, I feel bad for the Russian people. Here in America I can put a "Fuck Donald Trump" sticker on my car, and my neighbor can put a "Fuck Joe Biden" sticker on his truck, and neither of us have to worry about a knock on the door from the government.

In Russia, you can talk at length about how Navalny was a Nazi, how Ukrainians are Nazis, and how you support Putin in his righteous quest to rid Ukraine of Nazis and bring them back into "Russia, where they belong." Put a "Fuck Vladimir Putin" sticker on your car?

Knock, knock.

Like the habits of Russia invading its neighbors.

Dude, you are projecting.
If your operation was going on as you planned 2 years ago, Nuland would have been sitting in Kremlin now.

Still obsessing over your girlfriend, I see.

By your standards, the USA had to invade Iraq to protect us from violent Islamic terrorists. And millions of people bought that crap.

And frankly, disastrous as it was, that invasion went better than the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Tom

The invasion of Iraq went down perfectly. We coordinated with the Iraqi military to stand down and that made capturing the flag quite easy. The subsequent OCCUPATION went very very poorly, in large part due to poor planning or even a rudimentary understanding of the conditions on the ground, despite having been fed quite a bit of intelligence indicating how bad an idea an occupation was.

Meanwhile in Ukraine, Putin hasn't even gotten to the occupation portion yet, like not even remotely close. He's been fighting a stalled front war for well over a year... and that was after their pathetically failed attempt to go to Kiiv was stopped by Ukrainians flooding fields.

My entire point was that the way Putin is acting today is a century out of date. Imperialism was normal before WWI,
No, you mentioned Molotov-Ribbentrop. To which I reminded that Poland had a pact with Germany just before that and GB/France as well. You all had pacts with Hitler before that and Stalin was not happy about that.

Now, you keep repeating BS about Putin's imperialism. But that's just convenient Mantra West use to cover their imperialism. Russia is defending itself against it, nothing more, YOU ARE the real imperialists. You came and occupied Ukraine which is historically and culturally Russia. Of course you don't really care about Ukraine, it's just a tool to get the rest of Russia.
That's why it is important for Russia to stop it.

Amazing that after two years of this war you are still parroting the same old bullshit.

Ukraine is NOT historically and culturally Russia. Kiev and Ukraine PRECEDED Russia by some centuries. Kiev was a thriving city when Moscow was barely a little backwater.

The West occupied Ukraine? If that were the case, then Russian soldiers would be fighting Western ground forces.

Ukraine is not going to be absorbed by Russia, so sorry. That ship sailed two years ago when incompetent Russian troops attempted to storm and occupy Kiev and got their asses handed to them. They beat a hasty retreat with their tail between their legs and have never made a second attempt.

You country has made itself a pariah state for decades to come, and deservedly so. Putin wanted to block NATO expansion? How’d that work out for you, now that previously neutral Finland and Sweden have joined NATO?
