How should west respond to potential (likely) Russian invasion of Ukraine?

About recent 180 degrees from Trump, it seems that consensus of the observers is that Trump was being sarcastic.
Basically. The Green Goblin was coached by EU assholes to lie to Trump about Kiev successes in war with Russia.
And Trump is basically saying "Great, good luck taking Moscow, I am out of here"

? Trump was probably the most pro-Putin western politician not from Hungary that is available. He ran on stopping the war. He wants to do business with Russia. Many people from the west want to do business with Russia. From what I read, Trump got very annoyed that Putin wouldn't accept a temporary truce. But the talks really broke down when Russia threatened to attack western international peace troops. So it's over. Trump realizes that Putin doesn't want peace. So 180 turn for Trump. Probably about 3 weeks late. But at least it came. I give Trump credit for the turn but took him much longer than it took Biden to realize that Russia wants war.
What a load of crap you just wrote.
I already commented on "temporary truce". Let me repeat again. Fuck your disgusting suggestion of "temporary truce".

Why would we have any interest in a piece of Russia?
Imperialism

Yikes, how self-deluded is this?!! Barbos accuses Nato of being imperialist, despite the fact that Nato has not taken a square inch of Russia! And yet Russia isn't imperialist, despite taking about 20% of Ukraine! Nato has not attacked Russian civilians, infrastructure, or crossed into Russia proper. Russia attacks Ukranian civilian areas every single day! Russia sent drones into Poland airspace and has violated NATO countries air space with fighter jets 4 times the past 3 months! Who is the imperialist!?

That's a lie. It was Nazi regime in Kiev who sent these drones.
Moreover US has regularly sent military planes over central Russia and we have not started a war yet.

Fucking lie. NATO did attack russian proper, committing multiple terrorist attacks on civilians.
NATO uses its proxy of course to push the button but planning is all done by NATO.

Russia stole Crimea from Ukraine in 2014 despite the treaty that Russia signed saying that Crimea was Ukraine.
Crimea voted to leave nazi state called Ukraine which banned russian language.
And Nazi scum in Kiev violated that treaty first when they became openly anti-russian.
You wanted it, and you got it, enjoy!

Russia has said that it is open to a "ceasefire" if Ukraine gives up more of its land, disarms, and only allows Russian troops in to keep the peace. Is that a peace agreement that your country would accept with Pakistan?
What is said before an agreement and what is agreed later may differ.
US/India trade negotiations are an example of that. Both may not go by what they said earlier. Bessent agreed that India may not stop oil imports from Russia immediately but may bring it down in stages. So, US is not asking India for an immediate halt to all oil imports from Russia.

I responded to Aupmanyav (who has a very naive view of Russia) that Russia does not want peace with Ukraine.
I did not say anything like that. I said 'it seems both the parties do not want peace, so just 'keep away' and let them have what they want'. I would not like to interfere when two bulls are fighting it out. Ukraine is the cow.

Ukraine wants Ukraine.
Ukraine had Ukraine.
Russia invaded and occupied a piece of it.
Russia wants war because Ukraine still has most of Ukraine. Ukraine just wants Russians the hell out of THEIR country. The assholes came of their own volition, and need to go home before even Russians in Russia start dying. (Not that Russians ever cared much about Russians dying…)

Russia wants war or ‘war’ as a distraction fir how badly Putin is failing his country.

Plus they’d like a sea access….

Considering how the Ukraine war is going, I think Putin will win, then just go on to invade the Baltic countries. At that point the west will wake up and push back. China will see an opportunity and then we’ll have WW3 on our hands.

I think that's a plausible scenario, unless we commit troops and stop Russia now
I think committing troops is the wrong answer, that's asking for a direct clash between nuclear armed powers and both sides have bent over backwards to avoid such a situation due to the potential of it getting out of hand.

Weapons, though, and more liberty on using them.

What's to stop Putin using nukes at any time?

I think you are applying logic to a situation where there's no way to predict Putin's responses.

I think you are wrong. The only thing that can make Putin back off is overwhelming force. Let's give it to him.

If nukes will fly if Putin risks losing than nukes will inevitably fly. So why factor it in?
