We should have stormed the senate and dragged Mitch McConnell out by his testicles when he denied Obama his Supreme Court pick. It was the beginning of the end, IMO.

You're wrong.

The beginning of the end was when Ford pardoned Nixon.

Obama sealed the deal when he refused to prosecute senior members of the Bush II administration with the excuse "let the past remain in the past" as if that's a valid reason to throw the Magna Carta in the trash.

McConnell deciding to steal a USSC pick from the Democrats was a mere formality.

Everything Trump is doing is a mere formality.

We sealed the deal a long fucking time ago.

We through the whole concept of the rule of law under the table all in the name of appeasing Republicans.

And we should have learned from Neville Chamberlain that appeasing fascists never works. They just take it as a sign of weakness and evidence that they can push you even farther.

I met Mike back in '96. Had a nice talk with him about his time in Flint radio, and traded a few emails back and forth afterwards.

I like Mike. But IMO he lost his way after Bowling for Columbine. The Oscar went to his head, and he stopped being the biting happy warrior who made satire and started to make movies that were on point politically, but not funny.

He got his mojo back with "Where To Invade Next" but by then he'd lost the mainstream audience long ago. He spent too much time being shrill, and a guy who could have been like Maher (with a show on a network) became an outlier dismissed by anyone outside of his base.

More like a lapsed Catholic that disagrees with virtually every Catholic position.

As to the OP: I agree with a lot of what he says, but I don't go quite as far as he or Maher does with respect to how far into fascism we've lapsed. I also don't think that Moore (and many people actually) understand that this Supreme Court pick is a done deal. I see no way of stopping it, and I think a lot of people don't want to admit it. It's Dem complacency once again biting in the ass. Obama should have made it a recess appointment when he had the chance. Now, Schumer, Petosi et al wish to keep fighting the good fight of 30 years ago. They're WAY out of touch, and need to go. For fucks sake, Schumer put together a rally about gas prices a few weeks ago. They're out of touch with their districts and Ocasio-Cortez proves it. The fact that they think she won merely because she's Latina is stupid. If there's anyone that could fuck up a blue wave, it is these fools.

So you advocate aggravated assault and kidnapping of your political opponents?

Moore is... gah.

The last film of his I was able to sit through was Fahrenheit 9/11. In that film, he managed to minimize his sappy, melodramatic and willfully dishonest streak that plagues most, if not all of his other films. I hate it because I think the truth is on the left's side right now (and has been for a long time), and there's no need to go overboard and misrepresent the facts.

It must be exhausting being you.

Yes, when persons do grievous harm to our nation.

Of course usually we just go to war and shoot at them. I think that's a little too far in this case.

Democrats started it (Really!)
On November 21, 2013, the Senate voted 52–48, with all Republicans and three Democrats voting against, to rule that "the vote on cloture under Rule XXII for all nominations other than for the Supreme Court of the United States is by majority vote"

Not really where "it all started", but in the modern era, that was the jumping off point. Then, on April 6, 2017, Senate Republicans invoked the nuclear option to remove the Supreme Court exception created in 2013. This was after Senate Democrats filibustered the nomination of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court of the United States, after the Senate Republicans had previously refused to take up Merrick Garland's nomination by President Obama in 2016.
Now, of course Democrats are upset - especially since Republicans are citing the 2013 action as justifying their 2017 rule change. One can be fairly confident in predicting that in the not-too-distant future, the Republicans' use of the "nuclear option" will be cited as justification for Democrats to change the number of Supreme Court Justices to 11, and requiring only a majority vote.
Both parties have to stop making beds they don't to sleep in themselves!
