IED bombing of Colorado NAACP office

Here's what I don't get - even if they hit the Naacp...um, what's the point?

First, you're proving them right (assuming it is some white supremacist), but second...um, they're kinda behind the times. You've got the Dream Defenders, Black Lives Matter, Moral Mondays...jeez, even National Action Network has been more active. Why bother with some local NAACP branch?

We need better terrorists. Well, okay, we don't need them, but...
You don't understand. Ever since Obama outlawed white people, the forced segregation and forced rape of white women so as to dilute the white out of the skins of our children, things have been rough for white people.

This was a desperate act by a desperate man, trying to bring attention to the anti-white policies in America. It was bad enough Obama introduced reparations for slavery, but kicking whites out of their homes so blacks could live there is intolerable. The guy responsible for the bombing probably lost his home to a black family as part of the 2010 bill, and his wife is probably now pregnant with a mixed race baby.

He parked his Gremlin at the curb and ran over in his Earth shoes carrying the bomb in a Woolworth's bag. I got the whole thing on BetaMax.

Bombings fall into three general categories. The first is terrorism, which has some sort of political goal. Second is personal, which usually involves a love triangle, jealousy, business deals, etc. The third is the Unibomber wacko model. It appears to be political on the surface, but is really just lone nutbar bullshit.
I would not classify Unibomber style attacks as apart from terrorism. He definitely had a political motive and was highly intelligent.

I have no problem calling the NAACP bombing terrorism unless it turns out there was a personal or otherwise non-political motive.

The Unibomber was a paranoid schizophrenic. Such people often weave political fears and motives into their delusions, but his intelligence notwithstanding, we can't say he had political goals. What would he have done if he had achieved his goals?

Yeah, you would think they would try harder.

Story

The radio says the FBI is investigating a 20-something white guy. Not sure what this is - does the use of an IED make it a terrorist attack? Does the apparent target and race of the apparent perp make it a racist attack? or is it just a lone nutbar doing weird shit for no apparent reason?

Only your hairdresser knows for sure.

Most bombs are IED's. You can't buy them ready made at Home Depot.

And the Unibomber wasn't terrorism?

You are missing a third category, though (admittedly rare): A means of getting money.

We had a case like that here many years ago: They find this big-ass bomb full of booby traps in one of the little casinos. The instructions were pay $25 million if they didn't want it to go off. They couldn't defuse it, they didn't make the payoff, it partially collapsed the casino and hotel above (think Oklahoma City type damage.) AFIAK the perp was never identified.

Nastier still is something that's been known to happen in Mexico: They kidnap someone, strap a bomb to him and free him to go raise his own ransom.
