would you vote for a Democratic version of Trump just because of party loyalty?

Democrats certainly aren't perfect, and there of lots of them I don't like - but I have been trying to think of a recent Democratic politician as utterly despicable and without redeeming qualities as Trump.

Rod Blagojevich is the closest I can think of.

So I have two questions - who is the very worst Democratic politician you can think of, and if that person were running as the presidential nominee would you vote for him/her out of party loyalty?

I would not vote for Rod Blagojevich. I might not vote for the Republican, but I would not cast my vote for someone like Rod Blagojevich either.

No. I have voted for non-democrats when the democrat is a chump. Even voted against a candidate I door-knocked for.

In terms of presidential candidates?

Hillary Clinton, and no; not out of party loyalty, but because Trump is so much worse.

No, I cannot vote for pieces of shit. You simply can't convince me to.

Given her unfavorables and penchant for secrecy and scandal, ins't Hillary pretty much the Democratic version of Trump?
not even remotely, because hillary is in nearly every way a textbook career politician who has a lot of the trappings and cliches about her that go along with that, but is not atypical in the slightest of a lifelong DC politico.
whereas trump is just the guy finally coming out and saying all the things that the republicans have been dog-whistling about for the last 30 years, and when you're coding that shit behind a facade of sweet-mannered georgia southern charm, it's orange and it's retarded but the message is exactly the same.

clinton's unfavorables are due to two very obvious and very common reasons:
1. she's a random politician that the public decided to get a bug up its ass to be all upset about them being a politician.
this is something people do sometimes and it's always weird to me how the cultural zeitgeist picks its targets - just one random political figure out of hundreds, and they get go ape-shit on them for being a politician exactly like all the others.

2. she's a woman. no way around this. it's not exactly about sexism per se, but women definitely get scrutinized and judged more harshly for doing the same things men do, or at least doing a thing people see as negative will garner more antipathy towards a woman than the same thing would garner towards a man.

What about John Edwards?

Not nearly as bad, last I heard - despite his revolting personal life.

As an analog...I'd go with Louis Farrakhan. A scammer, encourages violence, openly supremacist, no relevant experience. And hell no, I wouldn't vote for him.

What about John Edwards?

If it had been Edwards or Rod Blagojevich verses Romney, I probably would have voted Romney.

I probably would have voted for Edwards over Trump though. Blagojevich verses Trump and I probably would have abstained.

I still don't feel like a Democrat, more of a moderate Republican who got left far behind in the rush to the right. In the modern Republican party, I'm a socialist hippie.

Trump is unique in his ignorance and constant lies. Trivial lies. Nonstop lies.

The man is a pathological liar.

There is no Democrat that you can compare to him.

It's an interesting premise, but how would a Blagojevich get the nomination? His record would kill his chances in a primary battle.

If the Democrats had a Trump, it would have to be one of our newly minted billionaires, maybe Mark Zuckerberg or some other native born high tech entrepreneur. Even then, it's difficult to imagine the other viable candidates letting a Trump doppelganger push them out of the way.

Try Hillary Clinton. She is half of a grafting team that parasitizes our government, and in their case...the governments of the world. Hillary Clinton is a more talented pathological liar, but no less a liar. She has no sense of diplomacy and was the LAST THING WE NEEDED AS SECRETARY OF STATE. The South Park cartoon is too kind to her. I won't be voting for her or Trump. Neither of these despicable candidates have an agenda addressing climate change (just like Obama). We don't need more of this culturally determined restraints on human survival. I am voting for Jill Stein. You do yourself no good at all to vote for either one of these assholes....the Giant Douche or the Turd Sandwich. Really no reason to vote for any of that garbage.

I couldn't imagine that someone like Trump would get the nomination, but he did. It seems like his baggage was just as heavy as a Blagojevich or Farrakhan would face. Do you think his money made the difference? Or his name recognition?

She is like her husband. Somebody that will easily lie for convenience.

But she is not a pathological liar.

Trump lies about everything, trivial or meaningful.

Not a guy I would play golf with.

I'm wondering if Supreme Court seats in play would affect the response to this question. How much would someone be willing to hold their nose for one seat? Two?

You make a very good point.

I still cannot imagine voting for a Democratic version of Trump - even for the USSC - but that does seem to me to be cutting off my own nose to spite my face.

The worst US Democrat I've seen is Hillary Clinton. She comes across as corrupt and two faced, and not very good about hiding it. She also comes across as robotic and hawkish. She will continue Obama's drone program for sure, and probably escalate it further. And before anybody tries to go there, my dislike of Hillary has nothing to do with her being a woman. I would be absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to vote for Elizabeth Warren. If she had run I would be jealous of you down in the USA instead of laughing at you. Trump? Hillary? These are your options?

I think a lot of Republicans are facing exactly that quandry in regard to Trump.

But then after the election there will be no real push for electoral reform.... why not? Why not fix it so you don't face this sort of issue again?

It actually isn't. It is more like realizing your country has incurable cancer and you are going to have to live the results of its decline. It is a painful thing, but it is a real thing. We simply cannot exit this era without making some fundamental changes in how government functions. That is why I am voting green. If the court becomes a total mess, then that will be one of the fundamental changes we will have to make to moderate its effect of society.
