Industrial Hemp: Action Item - PA!!!

Yes, I know the difference between hemp and marijuana, but DEA agents can't make that distinction.

Sure, they can....but (as usual), Priority 1, for them, is job-$ecurity....as it's always been!!

Don't get too pessimistic. The ball's already rolling....and, as would be expected....the powers-that-be are making the whole pursuit as difficult as possible.

State Industrial Hemp Statutes
September 15, 2014

*
"Nineteen states--California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont and West Virginia—currently have laws to provide for hemp pilot studies and/or for production as described by the Farm Bill stipulations.

Eight of these states—California, Colorado, Maine, Montana, North Dakota, Oregon, Vermont and West Virginia—sponsored hemp resolutions and have laws to promote the growth and marketing of industrial hemp."

I'm concerned over-exposure to industrial hemp causes posting in screwy fonts.

I dunno about 'screwy,' but my mind interprets it as spam and just slides across it...

The truth is his posts are reasonably short and to the point regardless of the fonts. What got to me was FreeTrader with his pages and pages of propaganda that was hard to scroll past...sometimes more than one page...only to find another equally long post from the same guy. I don't always agree with Medicine Man but I really don't think he is hurting our forum. The toolbar at the top of this posting window empowers this stuff. If it were important that all of our posts didn't have this stuff, the posting window would lack the buttons to change fonts.

I'm not saying it's important not to have that stuff. Just that his chosen formatting standard mimics a lot of viagra ads or home loan offers, and my mind has been trained by experience to reject and disengage. He's effectively put himselg on ignore...

Except for discussion about his fonts.

To be fair, he's responding to arkirk and not to the supplier of spastic posts.

I remember reading about hemp fibers, apparently they are much more durable than any other natural fibers.
jeans made from it can last very long time. Is it really true?

Yes, it is known for it's strength and durability. I look forward to some places being able to grow it and prove that again to the public.

Levis were so long lasting and "bulletproof" because they were made of hemp. Then the US gov't got all bent out of shape about Reefer madness and they switched to cotton.

My last pair of Levis didn't last 2 years, but I am wearing a hemp T-shirt that I've had for 4 years and wear at least once a weak. I have others that are 7 years old and can't be held responsible because I put holes in them climbing through barbed wire fences. I put holes in jeans because I am chubby and rub in unconventional places, but hemp jeans typically last me 5 years, and that's being worn and going through the wash at least weekly.

Hemp makes great jogging shirts because it wicks moisture really well. (Of course it takes longer to dry on the line, but you can't have everything.)

I used to have all the figures at front of mind but haven't worked in that area for a while.

It's a great fabric, makes a good companion plant between the rows of an orchard and needs way less pesticides, water and fertilisers than cotton does.

Show me a downside.

"The Columbia History of the World states that the oldest relics of human industry are bits of hemp fabric discovered in tombs dating back to approximately 8,000 BC.
Hemp fiber is one of the strongest and most durable natural textile fibers. Not only is it strong, but it also holds its shape having one of the lowest percent elongation of any natural fiber. In fact, its combination of ruggedness and comfort were utilized by Levi Strauss as a lightweight duck canvas for the very first pair of jeans made in California. Furthermore hemp has the best ratio of heat capacity of all fibers giving it superior insulation properties. As a fabric, hemp provides all the warmth and softness of other natural textiles but with a superior durability seldom found in other materials. Natural organic hemp fiber ‘breathes’ and is biodegradable."

Can one smoke hemp fabric and get high? .
The one time i was on a surface ship, we were warned not to smoke the hemp ropes. Apparently some of the bosun mates will cut an inch or two of line, put it in apipe and smoke it. I have no idea if the high is real or placebo, but they report it works.

Then one of the kids in our indoc class went and cut himself two inches of nylon rope and tried to smoke that. After he got out of sickbay, he was written up for being dumber than a bag of hammers.
