Thread inspired by "Protester Misconduct Thread", which has degraded into a sordid attempt to equivocate crowds of people demanding equal treatment with ongoing serial murders of unarmed civilians by police.

Let me start with this: an angry mob of right wing extremists gets riled up by a wannabe dictator, breaks into and loots the nation's Capitol in an attempt to interrupt Constitutionally required Congressional proceeding in order to overturn the result of a free and fair election, killing five people, causing millions in property damage, spreading their feces in response to a psychopathic President's lies about fraud.

"There was no parallel in modern American history, with insurgents acting in the president’s name vandalizing Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office, smashing windows, looting art and briefly taking control of the Senate chamber, where they took turns posing for photographs with fists up on the dais where Mr. Pence had just been presiding."

An apparently it's just fine to threaten the lives of elected officials carrying out their sworn duty.

“Hang Mike Pence!” the insurrectionists chanted as they pressed inside, beating police with pipes. They demanded House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s whereabouts, too. They hunted any and all lawmakers: “Where are they?” Outside, makeshift gallows stood, complete with sturdy wooden steps and the noose. Guns and pipe bombs had been stashed in the vicinity.

Of course I could go on, but I think it's clear to anyone with two neurons and a spirochette to tie them together, that there is no equivocation between this utterly lawless, treasonous spree and the mostly peaceful protests seeking equal treatment under the LAW.

Maybe now we can hold Citizen Trump responsible for some tiny fraction of the tragic devastation he has visited upon this once great nation.
He certainly made good on ONE thing: The "American Carnage" that was the theme of his first campaign.

There's plenty of equivocation. In about an hour, I'd predict that the thread will be that equivocation, by half, by post count.

Having been warned by staff, and having been repeatedly accused of whataboutism...which I did engage in, but intentionally so, to hopefully indicate that another poster (lefty) was doing the same...

Let me say as clearly as I can, with no caveats or edits:

What happened on Jan 6th, and Trump's behavior in inciting them, and his subsequent behavior in NOT calling them out for what they were, is absolutely unforgivable, and should never have happened, period. Those people were FAR, FAR more in the wrong than ANY protester, even ones who may have engaged in rioting, vandalism, looting, etc., during the summer of 2020, or before, or after.

It was an unprecedented and inexcusable act of domestic terrorism, and everyone involved ought to be punished to the full extent of the law.

Why is it so hard for people to understand why it was not until it became totally clear that the coup had failed, before Cheato lovingly ordered his militants to stand down?
He was never going to tell them to cut it out until there was no way he was going to become dictator.

Obviously the guilt of the accused is not in question, only the votes of the GOP members. Which tactic will make the Sedition Caucus look worse when they vote to acquit?
