Pastor Harry L. Thomas will most likely die in prison after being sentenced to 18-years for molesting children.

Thomas, 74, is the founder of the Creation Festival, one of the biggest Christian music festivals in the country. In February, the New Jersey pastor pled guilty to raping and sexually assaulting young girls between 1999-2015.

At the time of his sentencing, Thomas cried in the courtroom and cited the Bible for his wrongdoing.

“I’m very sorry for the pain I’ve caused. I agree with the scriptures. It would be better for a millstone to be hung around my neck and be cast into the sea. That’s what I deserve,” he said.

As victims spoke out against his crimes, one them said: “I hate you.”

One father of the victims called Thomas a “ravenous wolf.”

“This person [Thomas] is a ravenous wolf. He is one of the greatest hypocrites — a child molester masquerading as a pastor,” the father said.

Burlington County assistant prosecutor Stephen Eife said he was “a devil in disguise.”

His 18-year sentence comes with no possibility of parole.

Seriously, however, christianity is full of these types because they are all forgiven and loved by their Jesus god. The religion is a license to commit these acts. If he were tried in a religious court he'd probably walk based on "Hate the sin, Love the sinner. Those he harmed will simply be rewarded in the afterlife where everything is happy happy happy forever.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Christianity loves a criminal. Thankfully we have secular courts.

A. How do you know they necessarily meant the words the way you think they meant them (that the pastor wasn't a true Christian)?
B. If they meant the words that way, then how are they not committing the NTS fallacy themselves?

Probably they meant that they thought the man was trustworthy for being a Christian pastor, and then realized the veneer of trustworthiness was a sham. Parents need to figure out they shouldn't give special respect or trust to some guy with position in a church.

It's all in the bible folks. The rules HAVE been established!

The example of the true Scotsman is a strawman in this regard because no rules have been established as the above mentioned - i.e. no particular criteria for Scotsman.

You've got it backward. The real problem is that all too often, these predators get away with these acts because everyone thinks that "Christian" equals "good person". So skepticism, something Christianity frowns upon constantly, goes out the window. Pay no attention to the ice cream truck with blacked out windows and no license plates, it's fine, there's a Christian fish bumper sticker. I'm sure it's fine.

Christians want this to be true so desperately, they let kids suffer for it. Shameful.

He certainly didn't "fear" God, in a manner of speaking.

Or, he's convinced himself that God has forgiven him [once saved, etc.], or will forgive him [deathbed repenting] or even that this is something God wants him to do [the voices told me...]...
So he certainly may fear God's power and might, but it's okay to do what he's done, because rationalization is a very human trait.
