Lula defeats Bolsonaro

Great news - now onto the media battle of the deniers.

Rightist---"if you intellectuals are so smart and great why do you have to rely on government paid jobs and not able to go get work in private businesses like real Americans and people of value do?

Unless there is some kind of policy to hire qualified physically handicapped persons, the job typically goes to the most qualified applicant. That isn't going to be the guy who likes to go mudding in his pickup truck or drinks beer with the guys. And these applicants who like to go mudding and drink beer aren't physically handicapped. Actually, compared to those educated liberal democratic applicants they are definitely at a disadvantage.

But I don't think your typical anti-intellectual gets this. They don't see themselves as less qualified but as left out, abandoned, discriminated against. Intellectual disparity is just like income disparity. Persons who are intellectually disadvantaged want what those rich, educated, liberals have, but they can't have it. They can have coal mining but then those damn liberals are shutting those things down too. It's kinda like Dunning Kruger on steroids.

We've been culturally conditioned to believe that any person given the right inputs can graduate from Harvard, that we're all intellectually "created equal." That's bullshit. Good government should address the fact. Does it?

I suppose that depends on one’s definition of “good”.
Our current government does address Bubba’s intellectual disadvantage; it has created an institutionalized system to relegate Bubba and his offspring to the American version of indentured servitude. Keeping him on the brink of insolvency and feeding him a constant stream of lies about the causes of his suffering, ensures that he can be manipulated to vote against his own interests.
But this is a rich society. Even Bubba can “buy” (read: further inundate himself in debt) a big dually truck and a home with a picket fence in a crappy neighborhood. But he is stuck there and even he can sense that he’s trapped. That is by design; keep reminding him that others have more freedom and more wealth than he does, and he becomes perfectly willing to “attack” those others (imaginary though they may be) and follow the direction of those who promise to deliver him from his imagined slavery.

Why in the heck is alt-right populism so damn popular?!
Didn't the alt-left populist win?

"Alt-right" is defined as "populism" dominated by bigotry and lying, as opposed to the old-fashioned Right which emphasized traditional values and coherent thought.

But what is "Alt-left"? An emphasis on science, anti-bigotry and anti-misogyny? (I'm inferring the alt-left==anti-misogyny from the crazed hatred our Anti-"alt-left" member has for female Democratic politicos.)

Alt-left probably prefers to whatever constitutes the alternative to whatever is left of the user's brain.

It promised to make achievement of a variety of strongly opposed goals possible (fascism, the ability to render power over others available to the foot soldiers).

It is a promise of a bite at the apple, never mind that they're not going to be the folks actually getting to taste the fruit. Perhaps there will be some seeds left over -- only slightly digested.

When you have observed all your life how others oppose these goals, it can make them seem all that much more enticing, especially when there are idols whom you worship occasionally get a taste. To them, the cost is worth it, since they don't think they'll be the ones footing the bill.

It's where we're all made equal. Alt-left *dictate that all Americans are fully equal and not allowed to be smarter, better-looking, or more physically able than anyone else.
We don't have to work. We all get free money from the government and no one is made anxious by suggestions they do anything they do not want to do.

I could go on but I have to finish my resume for a namby-pamby volunteer service organization ushered in by George H.W. Bush.

Bolsonara threatened a coup if he lost this election. Get Lula's old prison cell ready for a new occupant.

No wonder Donald endorsed him.

But then again, Lula is an ex-president who went to prison, had his sentence annulled by the courts, and came back to win the presidency again. Perhaps Donald should be looking to him as his role model?

FUCK!!!

Tension has risen in the country after Mr Bolsonaro broke with the tradition of acknowledging defeat.

Some of his supporters are refusing to recognise the results, and have erected roadblocks across the country.

Police said they had cleared more than 300 roadblocks so far, but 267 remain.
Dozens of flights in and out of São Paulo's international airport had to be cancelled after a key access road was cut off by protesters.

Blockages have been reported in all but two states, causing considerable disruption and affecting food supply chains.

Travellers on busses reported running low on water and food as they spent hours stuck in queues.

Bolsonaro is allegedly due to speak. We await to see whether Brazil becomes a formal dictatorship or if he indicates he'll abide by the election results.
