Major airlines still have not learned their lesson

This time, Delta Airlines kicked a family of 4 off their airplane because the parents refused to give up a seat THEY PAID FOR for one of their children,

Delta overbooked the flight, and demanded that the parents hold their two-year-old on their laps so Delta could give the seat THEY HAD PAID FOR to a stand-by passenger.

When the parents refused, the entire family of four was removed from the flight, and 4 stand-by passengers took their place.

It sounds like Delta hasn't even paid for lodgings or reimbursed the family for any of the tickets THEY HAD PAID FOR.

The guy on the other Delta flight who intervened on behalf of the woman with the stroller was himself threatening by the male flight attendant. Multiple people on the United flight objected to what happened to Dr. Dao. It doesn't matter. "Authority" will threaten anyone who tries to step up.

It has sorted this out - you agree to give the ticket to someone else when you purchase it and don't show up for the flight.

Overbooking allows airlines to charge cheaper ticket prices. I'm sure there are plenty of more expensive airlines that have more flexible terms.

I read that business class can not be kicked off the plane, probably to lower class only.

It's not though. Children over 24 months have to buy their own ticket. Children less than 2 can fly in the laps, once they reach 2 years old they have to have their own seat.

It's hard to swallow having to pay several hundred dollars for maybe a few months over the limit so you say, well if they catch me I'll just have them sit on my lap and hoping to game sympathy.

Ahem. No, the child could not use that seat since it was not booked for it in its own name and the extra addition needed for a so small child to use the seat wasnt available (since it wasnt booked as a small children)

How the airline crew could allow things to escalate, so that they had to lesve the plane when they could have had the child on a lap instead, is totally weird.

They bought four tickets on this flight, and then bought 1 ticket on the earlier flight. The teenager flew out on the earlier flight, and the family had FOUR PAID FOR seats on this flight. Four seats, four people. You were 100% wrong in claiming that they had only paid for 3 seats and were trying to scam the fourth seat.
