From what I've seen reported these thugs didn't identify themselves whatsoever. The victims say they were wearing ICE garb, and ICE says they weren't their people.
Apparently there are criminal gangs of home invaders dressing up as Trump thugs, breaking into American Citizens' houses, stealing everything of value, then disappearing into the night, leaving no trace.

If the homeowners happened to be armed to the teeth and mowed down a bunch of them, would they be hailed as heroes for killing the bad guys?

They refused to ID themselves and left no contact info whereby the victims could even begin to try to get back the stolen cash, electronics and other stuff.

And I think that is what they want: more reason to shoot and never even bother with the mockery of questioning the corpses.

They will use reasonable response as an excuse to commit unreasonable aggression without even needing warrants.

Edit: I also really wish we had some way of effectively accounting or ledgering such things. Like, what do I get if someone responds in 2 weeks to the inevitable "citizens shot by home invaders; EO to confiscate guns from registered Democrats underway" thread with "they asked for it, shooting at the police"?

That probably is what happened, but it still would not surprise me if actual ICE thugs robbed and beat people for personal gain. I mean, they are already certifiable thugs for what they are doing ostensibly legally. Anyone who would take a job doing this to other people is a thug by definition, imo.

... except there were like, 20 of them. I don't know how much cash and valuables they got away with, but it sounds like a pretty meager take for a gang with tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars in gear and preparations. And then the headache of fencing all the "goods". They probably threw it all in a river and split the cash. /s

I'm sure ICE is lying. OCCAM is sure too. But it does open the door.

It's obvious what's going on here. There has been a fast expansion of ICE, which has left no time for any semblance of training. These men are given an address and probably little more information. Their tactics, if it can be so labeled, are learned from television.

I don't know that it so much an expansion through hiring and putting inexperienced people out there as much as it is coordination with other law enforcement agencies. Any inexperience would result from a particular law enforcement agency performing duties outside their wheelhouse.

That and the new hires are true believers.

Is ICE allowed to do this? I know border patrol has near insane levels of authority at the border. But ICE is acting like a secret police. The whole point of the Police needing to identify themselves is to let you know they have authority to order you to do things. Unannounced people (masked) scurrying in your home... the right-wing has been adamant about how those people are free game for lethal self-defense.
