ICE is the definition of a secret police. The reason a secret police force exists is because the government does not want the public to be aware of their actions. Even the most oppressive regime depends on the tacit cooperation of its citizens. Tacit cooperation is founded on the feeling of "I know they're not coming to get me, but I better be careful".That and the new hires are true believers. It's only a matter of time before an ICE squad runs up against the violent criminal immigrants they claim to be pursuing and someone is going to get killed.
It's obvious what's going on here. There has been a fast expansion of ICE, which has left no time for any semblance of training. These men are given an address and probably little more information. Their tactics, if it can be so labeled, are learned from television.
Is ICE allowed to do this? I know border patrol has near insane levels of authority at the border. But ICE is acting like a secret police. The whole point of the Police needing to identify themselves is to let you know they have authority to order you to do things. Unannounced people (masked) scurrying in your home... the right-wing has been adamant about how those people are free game for lethal self-defense.
Any police force, secret or otherwise, is always outnumbered. When the support of the community is lost, the police become an occupying army and the civilian population becomes their greatest threat.
