NASA has always allocated a small part of their budget to oddball projects. Just in case...
Yeah, and volunteers for these projects are usually the the least qualified.
maybe that's the idea - have their idiots occupied and not interfering with real work.
 
I was just asking for any development. Looks like we have had none in these 6 years.

Just not posted here. We do have a development--the EM drive is completely busted. They finally did the test they should have done long ago--set it up so they could switch back and forth between the drive and a dummy load. They got exactly the same results with the dummy.

What's really going on is the power--electric current in a magnetic field = torque. Make a sensitive enough measuring system and you'll see the power going to the motor in Earth's magnetic field. This is also why the results were so variable--different experimental setups handled the power wires differently.
