Needed: Counterpart to 'Woke'

None of the government data is believable anymore. In the first place, in order for data to be believed you can not change the metrics of how it is calculated like what has happened with inflation numbers. The government likes to cover up bad data because they know just the numbers can bring on bad sentiment with the economy. But that short sided political advantage is more than offset by the long term damage that has now been done. The government has destroyed their reputation just like main stream legacy media has. Their data has become irrelevant to most people and for good reason.
Standard MO for a cult: All other sources of information are lying to you. The cult is the only valid source of truth.

In reality you have to look at what both sides are saying. If you look only at one side you're going to fall for whatever biases they have.
The people most certainly knew what was going on when they bought food, rent, and saw the price of new cars. Its not a cult to know government CPI is complete bull shit when inflation is claimed to be low while the price of milk has doubled in price. Its called pulling your head out of your ass and observing reality.

Indeed, it is the Harris side in their own cult pretending a good economy, trusting all government statistics, all the while knowing full well how their individual economic well being was been decimated.
And yet, you seem gleeful that the GOP is still in power. Or is it only the Democrats that use funny statistics. Biden and Harris apparently managed to take the perfected economy of Trump's in 2019 and transition America back to the 1930s.

Trump signed off on a huge tax revenue heist for huge corporations and you think he gives a fuck about you..
If we all could be honest, Trump lost his 2020 election due to the pandemic which wasn't his fault (came from China).

And Harris lost her 2024 election due to actions occurred during both Trump and Biden; shutting down firms while printing money for goods no longer produced (causing huge inflation).
Inflation was caused by Supply shortfall, which cascaded into the rest of the economy. The Biden Admin and Democrats also tried to help the unemployed more than their red state governments would have.

Trump had nearly $1 trillion in deficit spending annually before the Pandemic hit.
Unfortunately voters don't see past their nose to blame who really ruined their economy and way of life.
And Trump/Vance are going to restore their way of life by magically moving illegals out of the country and getting rid of automation, computers, and machines?

If we all could be honest,
Most of us can do that without too much difficulty.
Unfortunately voters don't see past their nose to blame who really ruined their economy and way of life. And since no one tells the truth anymore (especially the fed) no one believes the truth even if it slips out.
Wow. You really do enjoy channelling Tucker Carlson, don't you?

Trump didn't lose due to the pandemic, but because of his inept handling of it. There was no "huge" inflation, just mild inflation by historic standards. As for voters, it was their incapability to see what was really happening when there was plenty of evidence, but they preferred to rely on their "feels".

Democrats can either be upset about it & call it out for what it is, or use it to their advantage.

Looking in the produce department here I find many things where the price is under $1 per item or per pound.
So do what traders always did when stuff was worth less than the smallest coin.

Sell more for the lowest possible price.

Two for a dollar. $1/kg, rather than $1/lb - or 2lb for a buck. It's not rocket surgery. It's not even a new problem.
True, although that becomes problematic in situations where the consumer doesn't want more. Lots of bags of hardware for under $1/bag. Lots of small packages of snacks for under $1.

I don't see the CPI as bullshit. I simply don't see the massive inflation you keep claiming exists. You're looking at cherry-picked data by those who seek to deceive you.

I have not seen the price of milk double. I have seen a bit of a recent spike, our local store is now $3.09 for a gallon of skim--from the $2.49 typical before the world blew up. But I've also seen it as low as $2.19. Milk prices fluctuate! When you compare a spike vs a dip it looks like a big change, but overall it is not.

Eggs are even worse--they have doubled recently. It's certainly not the first time that's happened, though. Birds are quite problematic for disease, the demand for eggs is reasonably inelastic and they can't be stored for too long so small supply changes result in big price changes.

Or consider the on that keeps being pointed out: gasoline. The local station is about $3.50--which is where it was before the world blew up. 0% is truly massive inflation!

The fact that it originated in China is irrelevant. He handled it poorly.

Diseases arise. They have throughout human history--and they do so much more these days because people move around so much.

And 2024 wasn't decided on the issues, it was decided on a truly massive stream of disinformation from the Republicans, Moscow and probably Beijing.

And while paying for goods no longer produced wasn't exactly ideal the alternative would have been worse.

Unfortunately voters don't see past their nose to blame who really ruined their economy and way of life. And since no one tells the truth anymore (especially the fed) no one believes the truth even if it slips out.
There's no grand conspiracy, there are those who portray it as a grand conspiracy.

The real world involves many tough choices. It's almost always possible for a malicious actor to present a distorted picture of the facts that lead to the tough choice and make it look evil. That doesn't make it so.

And, unfortunately, the prevalence of such misrepresentation results in an awful lot of political actions that are based on minimizing the potential for being blamed rather than on an optimal outcome.

This shows you have absolutely no idea of how the CPI and the Inflation rate are calculated. Hint: it was calculated the same way under Trump.
There's always some ability to mess with it. The problem is goods inherently change over time, you can't have a truly standard basket of goods to compare.
