In latest test, North Korea detonates its most powerful nuclear device yet
Possibly thermonuclear, but given estimated yield of ~100kt probably just a strong boosted fission nuke. It is also uncertain how big the devices are and whether they can be fit on their ballistic missiles, although NK claims they can.
Still, the more this goes on the more sophisticated NK nuclear program becomes and more difficult it will be dealing with them. Really, something should have been done about the Kims back during the Clinton administration.
So what do we do now? Continue paying them extortion money and hope they don't launch a missile? Work like crazy on developing more sophisticated ballistic missile defense to be able to shoot the suckers out of the sky? Have a massive preemptive strike on their nuclear facilities as well as the conventional batteries north of Seoul?
