Do they though?
The disagreement is not whether it's bad the disagreement is in the cause and remedy. For instance, some think that if Police do a better job and build trust by holding themselves accountable when they fuck up BLM wouldn't be a thing.
That is obviously not the case. #BLM was built on a lie - "hands up, don't shoot" i.e. that Mike Brown was holding his hands up in surrender. In reality, he robbed a store, attacked a police officer, and then after initially running away, he turned around and advanced toward the officer.
There were other #BLM riots built on blatant lies - Keith Scott "he had a book, not a gun" probably being the best known.
You (and sometimes I) come along whenever BLM protests for the "wrong people" and rightfully see the destruction and theft going on say "the police need to do something!". We are correct that the police need to do something however (and this is my view) it will get worse if the police continue to fuck up and not hold themselves accountable.
Chauvin was prosecuted and convicted. As were numerous others in cases where police really did wrong. What more do you want re accountability? I think #BLMers want to see police officers in prison no matter if they did anything wrong.
Remember when someone took a knee and people complained?
You mean that spoiled millionaire jock? First of all it's tacky to protest while on the clock. You and I could not do it - why should professional jocks?
Second, Kaep is an anti-police extremist who advocates for abolition of police and prisons.
Colin Kaepernick calls for abolishing police and prisons in new essay
What in particular do you believe should have been done?
now people are burning and stealing stuff and you and I are here complaining about that.
Well #BLMers were burning and stealing since 2014, long before Kaep's grandstanding. And before 2014 we had LA Riots and the like.
Not that #BLMers even need police shooting a thug as an excuse to riot and loot. A thug killing himself while police are closing in on him is sufficient for them.
Unrest Grows In Downtown Minneapolis After Police Say Murder Suspect Killed Himself On Nicollet Mall
What do you think would be next if law enforcement continues to do half their job? For example, they go into that occupied zone with force, kill a few people and say "we feared for our lives" sprinkled crack on them then took a paid vacation. Do you think it will just be more looting and rioting we complain about?
I am not advocating planting evidence. But rioters, looters etc. need to be arrested and, most importantly, prosecuted. Arrests don't do much good if fauxgressive DAs refuse to prosecute. And of course, if rioters attack police, lethal force against them might be warranted.
The police definitely need to get in there and regain order however they also need to get the community's trust back. Right now the community trusts and supports the "wrong people" more than the police and to me that is entirely the police's fault.
I do not think the few hundred rioters represent "the community".
