Sweet Jesus, I'd freeze at those temps. HAL keeps trying to set my HVAC to 79° every evening at 2030 and I keep turning it back up to 83°. Actually, at this point, I'm usually turning it off for the night. Aside from the blistering last few days, I usually do not turn it on until the evening. With the windows closed, the insulation will do its thing. Why don't they recommend nudity? I'm very comfortable right now.

Bottom line - when idiots use words like "socialists", "Marxists" and "communists" with regards to FUCKING US POLITICS, it's not because they hate any of those things (I suspect they're too fucking ignorant to know what they are). It's because someone they don't like (in this case Mamdani) is showing competent governance.

You would not be Patooka without name-calling people who you disagree with. But about words like "socialists" etc. being used re US politics - you would be mostly right 20 years ago, perhaps even 10 years ago. But since then, DSA has enjoyed a surge in popularity, unseating moderate Democrats through their insurgent campaigns.
And DSA are proper socialists. From their constitution

So they reject private profit and want a "popular control of resources and production", a Marxist idea. "Alienated labor" is also a Marxist idea. "Economic planning" was practiced in the command economies in actually existing socialist countries of Eastern Europe.
This is certainly not about public roads or whatever that idiot Titus was shouting about.

And "Zippidydoo Macadamia" himself also used explicitly Marxist language.

He is talking about "winning socialism" by "seizing the means of production". He also uses another Marxist term of art - "raising class consciousness".

But of course, apologists will come and say how this is not really Marxism and that neither DSA nor DJ Cardamom meant it that way. :rolleyesa:

Communism spreads easier than herpes. If you don't violently suppress it in all countries at all times, the world instantly turns Marxist and everyone is eating potatoes made out of old shoes by the end of the week. It's just like in the movies.

It's like saying that somebody is a Marxist (or Satan worshipper in your stupid analogy) because they stated Marxist ideas and are part of a party that has Marxist ideas in their constitution (as I have shown in post #887). When somebody tells you who they are, believe them.

Then you have people want believe that the Marxist (or Satanist in your analogy) is benign because he has a nice smile and ignore him (and DSA) telling you exactly what they are about.
