Thanks for this! I've either learned a new word, or had some of my aging neurons rejoggled. I guess your "tittle" comes from the infamous Q-source, since a similar reference is found at Luke 16:17.'Tittle' isn't a new word; It appears (famously) in the King James Bible (Matthew 5:18), so it's been around for at least four centuries.
It's the superscript dot that appears above the lowercase letters i and j in English.
The word is also found in Love's Labour Lost, a famous play from the pen of the Seventeenth Earl of Oxford.
