The US National Rifle Association declares bankruptcy, plans restructure as a Texas non-profit

The US National Rifle Association has announced it has filed for bankruptcy, seeking protection from creditors by restructuring as a Texas non-profit.
The announcement made on the NRA's website comes months after New York's attorney general sued the organisation over claims that top executives illegally diverted tens of millions of dollars for lavish personal trips, no-show contracts for associates and other questionable expenditures.

If there ever was a time to sarcastically offer thoughts and prayers...

We are on the literal brink of civil war and the NRA can’t make any money. Now that’s poor business management.

The NRA is not broke. It's simply using the cover of Chapter 11 to reorganize in Texas as a non-profit; and obviously avoid an unfriendly AG in NY.

Is the NRA going “bankrupt?”
No. In fact, this move comes at a time when the NRA is in its strongest financial condition in years.

To facilitate its reorganization, the NRA and one of its subsidiaries filed voluntary chapter 11 petitions in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas, Dallas Division. The NRA is not insolvent.

Somehow I think this is only going to end up a delaying tactic. Bankruptcy doesn't address corruption issues--this isn't a civil liability case, it's a corrupt leadership case.

Since they are broke, I will speak for them:

"It is too soon after the attempted revolution to talk about gun control."

Of course the NRA is not broke. The Russian Mob is alive and well.

I'm sure the bankruptcy court will take this information into account.
