Pastor who refused to close his church dies from COVID-19

If God is everywhere, then He can hear your prayers and hymns if you make them in your own home.

So why is it such a problem for pastors if the faithful congregation are saying their prayers a bit further than usual from the collection plate?

:confused2:

It's a complete mystery.

They're also afraid of losing control. Church services are their opportunity to define the "faith" of their congregation and orient it toward their own prerogatives. Uncontrolled worship might lead to reading the Bible unassisted.

Heck, it might lead to reading the Bible in the first place . . .

LOUISIANA PASTOR TONY SPELL ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY BACKING CHURCH BUS TOWARD CORONAVIRUS PROTESTER

Spell can be heard saying, "Don't take my Bible," as police place his hands behind his back to handcuff him. The police do remove the Bible from his possession before leading him away.

The Life Tabernacle Church pastor has refused to close down his church in the midst of the new coronavirus pandemic. The Central Police Department said Spell was issued an arrest warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to a report by WAFB 9 News.

What a dickhead. I kinda like that they took away his weapon. He's a liar too because he said the protester was being vulgar, which the protester denied.

These guys are kooks, and that's being kind.

Death by vehicular homicide seems like a rather draconian punishment for the offence of 'being vulgar', even by the standards of the State of Louisiana.

Considering that our idiot governor is going to allow the churches to resume services very soon, there will probably be a lot more deaths related to church services. I tend to think that some churches will remain closed for quite awhile. A friend of mine said that there's a church in a rural area near her that has never stopped having services. These people really believe they can pray away the virus.

Priest who said COVID-19 was good for family life gets the virus | Barry Duke - in Russia
THERE swills around Archpriest Dmitry Smirnov brain some pretty loopy notions. One is that radishes feel pain. Another is that women are fast losing their sense of shame.
Along with a lot of other sexist assertions and actions.

The 69-year-old priest said about the COVID-19 pandemic that those who died from it
Gave their lives for their neighbor. Egotism has gone down, replaced by volunteerism, the wish to do something for one’s neighbour.

... Increased the understanding of some very important Christian qualities.
He has now been hospitalized with the virus.
The Russian Orthodox Church, with more than 150 million followers, has been resistant to recommendations to close its doors as the pandemic has worsened across Russia but in late March advised worshippers to stay home.
