Pelosi: Impeachment Is Moving Forward

There are rumors that Romney wants to convince the GOP to dump Trump in favor of Romney, and is setting himself up for "cross party support" by this vote. He has always been an anti-Trump Republican.

He forgot how his entire career up until 2011 he was a "good Republican", but in 2012 he became the epitome of everything wrong with the Republican Party, then from 2013 forward he was the "good Republican" again. If he does by some miracle succeed in his plan, he won't be the "good Republican" during the campaign.

Well good for Romney. I don't care what selfish motives he may or may not have had. He did the right thing and went against his very polarized party. Props to him.

Who were denied a vote, illegal immigrants, murderess and rapists, and non registered voters?

Try people who moved, but forgot to update their voter registrations, so didn't respond to a letter sent to their old address. Guess which class of people in what locations have more volatile living arrangements? If you guessed "poor people in urban environments", you win a prize. The prize is the knowledge that those people are also more likely to vote Democrat.

Are you implying that Dem voters are more stupid than the average bear?

No, just people that don't read the posts they respond to.

Angelo doesn't get it. Poor people are more likely to vote Democrat and are more subject to manipulations that keep them from voting.
I am becoming more and more convinced that the Dem party should embrace Bloomberg and his fat coffers. Trump has proven beyond all question that the American electorate can be bought and sold. If Dems don't start coming up with some competitive bidding they'll be left in the dust with no chance for anything but a Pyrrhic victory. And they won't get competitive by collecting $27 increments.

I had read a while back that Romney is far and way more popular in Utah than Trump is. So it would appear that he felt more free to do the honest thing.
There's also the report that ~30 GOP senators would vote to impeach if they made the vote anonymous. All that tells me is that at least 29 of them are craven cowards. The rest have actually drunk the kool aid and/or are traitorous shitstains.

And I don't believe anonymous BS like that. The GOP made their bed. Whether they wanted to vote out Trump or not, they didn't vote out Trump and that is all that matters.

The Trumpkins are retconning Romney's political life.

Some of the comments on Trump's twitter feed are suggesting he's become a Democrat.

Some are saying he's always BEEN a Democrat.

Someone's posted that "Looking back it almost looked like he gave that election away??????"

I think the attacks on Romney demonstrate how Twitler was right about heads on a pike.* Which means his threats affecting voting on his own impeachment, while not literal, were real.

Romney's position will eventually be vindicated. Let's just hope that happens before the Trumpocalypse in Nov 2024.

ETA: Fixed typo.

A @POTUS confidant tells CBS News that GOP senators were warned: “vote against the president & your head will be on a pike.”

It was a wise and forward looking move by Romney. It will be like being one of the few in congress who voted against the war in Iraq. He's the sole sitting Republican senator that voted correctly on the impeachment. That may help him politically in the future.

Yes, and I'm sure there was as much of that calculus in his decision as there was moral fortitude.

He isn't getting primaried in Utah by a GOP zealot. Romney received 665,000 votes (63%) in a mid-term Senate election in 2018 while Trump received 515,000 votes (45%) in a General Election in Utah in 2016.

Regarding long term future, the ugly right-wing (or whoever is posting on social media) is turning on Romney. Maybe he can run for President again in 2024. But if the GOP continues this death spiral into hell, with the US in tow or not, might not have a chance. Nikki Haley is towing Trump's line now. This shit is getting seriously disturbing.

No, but you are currently implicating yourself on the exact same supposition.

Despite the acquittal, I'm proud of the Democrats for going through with this. They did the right thing. Good for Romney too for a very historic act. Even if he's popular in Utah, it still showed integrity.

I wonder what impeachable crimes Trump is doing now.

He should surely be tried and impeached for masturbating in his shower!

If you move house or go interstate, and leave no forwarding address, then yes, I would call that stupid. Unless one moves for some ulterior motive and doesn't want to be found. In that case, no, you shouldn't be allowed to vote.

Yeah, that was Starr's and Dershowitz's attitude in the 90s.
