Even with the "actual facts" Snopes rendered an indecisive conclusion as to what actually happened.
The facts indicate that either this man did several negligent things or that it was deliberate. He pointed the gun at her, it was loaded, and he pulled the trigger; an unlikely series of events. Also he claimed that he was showing her the gun; you don't show a gun to someone by pointing it at them, you have them standing by your side, and then demonstrate things such as removing the magazine and so on.
Also his claim that he accidentally fired the gun is dubious.

Reading about how a grief stricken idiot of a father shortly thereafter did the world a favor and shot himself in the head? I’d have some interest in that.

What is interesting is an opposite case is being exploited online as well, about a black guy that drove down a family of three and shot an elderly woman. From the little available, it sounds like the guy apparently suffers from serious mental illness problems, but the Social Media on the Internetz was doing its BS thing of politicizing the fuck out of an outright awful tragedy that befell a family.

All that said, the guy pointed a loaded gun towards his daughter. That appears to unquestioned fact. How in the hell can someone be that reckless with a firearm and be allowed to own one?! And not be held accountable for such remarkable incompetence? Trump or not, he should have been charged with SOMETHING!
