Putin and MBS are Laughing at Us

It is idiotic to not aggressively increase our oil production while we make a sesible pkanned and control trasition to non fossil fuels. .
So are you saying that Obama was wrong for cancelling DAPL, a pipeline designed to make domestic oil production from the Bakken formation more competitive?
P don't know. I believe that was about bringing down Canadian shale oil. I don't think it would have affecd American gas supplies.

I m saying going cold turkey on oil is gong to lead to problems. EVs are not going to work across tge board.

After initial failures China has gotten very good at developing long terms goals, 5 year plans, and executing to plan. Cina tinks and acts very pragmatically. Our system works ideologically regardless of consequences. Like Trump getting elected and who might get reelected.

We need a long term energy plan which includes a new grid and a staged transition. One obvious issue if we all go to EVs then relaiblity of the grid becomes crucial.

A good example is the lowering of Lahe Mede and looming loss of hydro power. Biden's knee jerk funding charging stations is pointless. Perople like Biden and in congress have no expierince and capability to even envision a lan. It is all short term poltiics.

That s why China laughs at us over drinks. We say they should be like us and they say no thanks.

We hve done it with electrification and the national highway system.

Trump "promoted" many things. But he didn't get shit done.
He did get shit done. For example, he reversed Obama's purely political cancellation of the (almost complete) Dakota Access Pipeline.

Oil production is higher today than what it was during Trump's time.
You are better than this. Oil production is done by private companies and how much is produced is dependent on many variables, governmental policies one of many. Global oil price being a major driver of supply increases. Oil price was in the $50s in e.g. 2019, and has been >$100 for much of this year. In 2020 we had the pandemic and unprecedented demand destruction too.
If you think oil production being higher today vs. 2019 is due to Biden's policies, can you point to some that you think made domestic oil production easier?

"Trump promoted US energy independance. But he made mean Tweets. So, now we've got Biden, who looks to foreigners to supply our oil."

Well, you removed Oleg's quote that I was referring to. Above is his post. Of course, the private sector drives US oil production. Many conservatives who get their news from Fox don't understand this. It is clearly false that "Biden looks to foreigners to supply our oil". We are the largest supplier of oil in the world. By far.

Just to add to the above, Fox news blames government for bad news (inflation, cost of gas, and etc.) but then credit the private sector for good news during democratic periods.

Bilby is, in his own way, a tiny fraction of "Australia" and whatever he is doing "Australia" is also doing, because he is a part of "Australia", at least for the purposes of this conversation.

As far as I knowPatooka is also equally Australia, but a different tiny piece of it.

This is what it means to be a voter in a democracy.

When figuring out what "the whole" of Australia does, a large scale operation happens and what other folks do may cancel Bilby's effect on the whole but that effect is still a part of the summation operation.

But that doesn't change the fact that Bilby is a part of that collective decision making power and mandate.

DAPL was shut down in 2020, 4 years after Obama left the presidency.

What is the point of posting a link to an entire wiki page without quoting particulars?

In any case, if you read through your own link, you will find that the Obama administration did block the construction of the pipeline in December 2016.
As to 2020, that was a court decision where a judge (an Obama appointee btw.) ordered the pipeline shut down, but that decision was promptly reversed by an appeals court. So DAPL was not actually shut down in 2020.

Putin is laughing at us like that cockroach I stepped on is laughing at me.... it can't laugh because it's dead, because it lacks a brain, and because the joke's on it.

Time crunch plus my computer was misbehaving and not allowing me to highlight/cut/paste efficiently. Sorry for the inconvenience of making you read.

Two members of congress are talking about about a bill to pull out all American troops and end arms sales to SA.

Biden spokesman says Biden will talk to congress in evaluating wether not not the Saudis relationship is in our interests.

SA is about as opposite to or values as it can get. To hell with them.

Apparently Biden knew that the Saudis intended to cut production, but asked that they do it after the midterms. What a douche.
