Quack Quack Quack Kennedy

RFK is a different sort of quackery but there is lots of quackery to go round. It is interesting that other types of quackery are more readily indulged, like DEI, white privilege, asking men if they are pregnant when they show up to give blood, tampons in the men's room, men can be women etc.
And you think this is WORSE that what RFK is espousing and doing? Wow. He's trying to set a stage where they can institutionalize (lock up) those with mental health illnesses or people with neurodivergences. That's nazi shit.

RFKjr crazy statement about people with Autism
"These are kids who will never pay taxes. They'll never hold a job. They'll never play baseball. They'll never write a poem. They'll never go out on a date,"
As a diagnosed autistic person who has done all of those things - but never had the MMR vaccine, I find this absurd.

The guy wants to create an autism registry and all I can think of is Asperger and the Nazis!

Also says it is preventable.

Did anybody tell him that Elon Musk is on the spectrum?

He doesn't pay taxes, barely held his position with DOGE for three months, he doesn't play baseball, and his poetry is awful. He does impregnate too many women though. But 4 out of 5 is pretty close. ;)

People are up in arms over RFKjr's idiotic comments on autism.

CBC story

As a parent of a child with autism, I assure you this is bullshit and insulting.

Ya I have a son on the spectrum. He will likely get an A- average his sophomore year at UMass Boston.

Those who study 21st Century lyric poetry would chuckle at that.
"Maybe religion's not so bad/To keep you from being sad."
That's how it's done, Jack. That's the human condition in one immortal couplet.
He combines Frostlike common nomenclature with rhythms that Sylvia Plath attempted but rarely hit this squarely.
If Amanda Gorman could write like that, she'd have her Nobel by now.

I don't know why the multiquote has me saying "and his poetry is awful". That wasn't me.

I know. This happens on the site to all of us. And when you're in Reply mode, you can't always (ever?) get rid of the stacked-up attributions.
Anyway, relax. When Elon texts me next time, I'll tell him it wasn't you who dissed his verse.

Impreganating women doesn't necessarily imply going on any dates with them. ;)

Well, rounders.

Same same.

;)
I have mentioned my adolescent 20-something years long addiction to Survivor the TV reality show.
This season features two contestants with “disabilities”, both of whom are kicking ass.
Especially the young autistic girl who had a total meltdown at one of the challenges, crying and screaming after almost giving up a challenge out of frustration, and then finally succeeding… the entire cast rallied to help her out of the meltdown, which literally made the host cry - a first, after 47 seasons.
Meanwhile, she solves every puzzle in seconds - one which befuddled all the “normals” for days.
Also outlasted the rest in a difficult physical challenge through sheer power of will. The season is more than half over now, and both she and the skinny funny looking guy with the speech impediment are still in it, and the rest of the contestants are just starting to realize that they are both major threats. And it might be too late! The autistic girl has accumulated a bunch of advantages, some made public, but some she garnered in secret and has kept secret.
But she is probably not capable of deception (if someone asked her “do you have advantage x” she’d probably tell them. She will just have to outperform, and use her advantages wisely, because now everyone knows she can beat them mentally AND physically, so they will try to get rid of her.
Anyhow, I love and admire that kid. So kind, so doggedly determined and SO smart.
Watch out for people “disabled” by autism - they might leave you in the dust!

This happens on the site to all of us. And when you're in Reply mode,
Highlight the sentence you want to reply to, and [ + Quote | < Reply ] pops-up underneath the highlight.
Click on +Quote. (not reply)
Then under the message field there will be a [ " Insert quotes ] button (next to Attach files) which will give you options of what to quote.

RFK Jr. rejects cornerstone of health science: Germ theory

In his 2021 book vilifying Anthony Fauci, RFK Jr. lays out support for an alternate theory.

Kennedy’s beliefs
In the chapter, Kennedy promotes the "miasma theory" but gets the definition completely wrong. Instead of actual miasma theory, he describes something more like terrain theory. He writes: "'Miasma theory' emphasizes preventing disease by fortifying the immune system through nutrition and by reducing exposures to environmental toxins and stresses."

Kennedy contrasts his erroneous take on miasma theory with germ theory, which he derides as a tool of the pharmaceutical industry and pushy scientists to justify selling modern medicines. The abandonment of miasma theory, Kennedy bemoans, realigned health and medical institutions to "the pharmaceutical paradigm that emphasized targeting particular germs with specific drugs rather than fortifying the immune system through healthy living, clean water, and good nutrition."

As a consequence of this, I note, endemic disease that had been a constant for at least a few thousand years all but disappeared from the developed world within a century. So successful was this eradication of disease that it has ceased to be a constant fear on the mind of every person, and has become a political football.

As recently as the middle of the nineteenth century, going to hospital (for any reason) was a gamble that had a very good chance of ending in your death. Having a child meant about a one in three or four chance that you would have a funeral for them before their fifth birthday.

Today, people expect to come home from hospital visits, and it's ususlly a surprise if they don't. And people expect their children to reach adulthood as a matter of course - it comes as a terrible shock to hear of the death of a child, and if it does happen, it's usually due to an accident or a genetic abnormality, rather than to an infectious disease.

That's what the abandonment of miasma theory has led to.

No sane person would suggest going back to that lethal insanity, unless they were utterly ignorant of history. And we all know what those who are ignorant of history are doomed to, don't we?

The thing is, peasants being forced to raise a bunch of unhealthy dying children means they stay poor and powerless.

We're talking about a guy who knowingly sides with people who were making a cash grab.

There's a grift here and that's the clearest one.
