Even Nick Wilson seemed a little surprised at how hearty a cheer he received when he announced, “Chicken pox is making a comeback.”

The return of chicken pox, and of measles too, was good news in Dr. Wilson’s considered opinion, and the 1,400 or so supporters of preventable childhood diseases gathered at the Freedom Summit at the Lake Geneva Christian Center in Alexandria last Saturday could not agree more.

Now in its seventh year, this daylong event, subtitled “Empowering Voices for Faith and Health Freedom,” gathered an Evangelical crew now marching under the banner of “Make America Healthy Again” and energized by broad, disturbing successes at the federal level.

You could call them “anti-vaxxers” as shorthand, but vaccine resistance was just the tip of the needle here. All of modern medicine is “a demented, sick cult,” in the words of propaganda film producer Del Bigtree. Over the course of a 10-hour program with 15 speakers, we were taught how to “win” (a direct quote) against our doctors and exposed to health insights that “the elites” (another) are hiding from us. We were reminded, again and again, that god wants us to be healthy and happy but hubristic man keeps getting in the way with his intrusive science.
Well, how else do you expect those slavering for the apocalypse to see the plagues they think are necessary to that end?
At what point do these people pose such a risk to public health that they could be deemed to be terrorists?

Well, Trump is trying to use fear to make people afraid of using their constitutional rights of speech, assembly and press. Should he also be declared a terrorist? I think so.

At what point did the word "terrorist" start to mean "any person who poses a threat of any kind, regardless of that person's motives"?

There is no evidence that these fools seek to force political change through credible threats to deliberately harm civilians.

They propose to deliberately harm civilians in the genuine belief that those citizens are being abused, and will welcome their intervention.

They are not terrorists; They are just well intentioned idiots who are terribly mistaken about everything.

Yup, that's terrorism.

Sometimes, other times they believe the "weak" need to be killed off and that one way to do that is by letting diseases spread. They're only well-intentioned as it concerns their ingroup (those they perceive to be "strong").

When they lose their faith in Donald Trump.

To be fair, this sort of this is a far left sort of thing. It is something, how the far right and far left started to overlap during the Covid pandemic.

Has the far left ever gotten into government and fucked with our health and safety standards the way the far right is at present?

No. But it isn't unreasonable to accept that this was a both side sort of thing... just that it was fringe of the left, and developed into the not so fringe of the right. As far as policies go, no one in the GOP would have nominated this guy to be in charge of HHS. It seems so implausible, it is hard to understand why they even allowed RFK Jr to be there. Unless they were too stupid to know what damage he could unleash.

Well, I'll give it a out 4 more years before whatever senility took Dr Z to finish taking Jimmy.

Maybe I spoke too soon.

No, Jimmy, it's not hard to understand: some people want to see the world burn and he was a good pick on how to accomplish that.

How do you have such a hard time acknowledging that some people want to actively make the world burn? Whether for the joy of seeing the flames or the hope to secure power in the resulting wasteland, that's why RFK is there.

I wish I could say it was hyperbole, but given that he has turned to promoting transfats (which are the root of numerous health maladies), it should be clear what his purpose is.

Pretty much anything that enslaves, traps, and injures the middle/working/poor classes, that's what he has been pushing.
