Question About Syria

How is Ukraine a proxy war? It's essentially naked expansionism from Putin. I don't see anyone propping him up.

Now when US funds have stopped we have an excellent natural experiment with which to test your theory. My money is on that the Ukraine war will end soon, as a win for Putin
That doesn't answer the question.

Why not? If Ukraine is unable to fight without American support then that proves its just a proxy war between USA and Russia.
How?

The Russian advance into Ukraine was stopped well before US arms rolled in. You might want to google 50 mile supply line into Kiev in your spare time.

But you didn't address my point. Korea was a proxy war. Vietnam was a proxy war. Yemen is a proxy war. For it to be a proxy war both sides have to be propped up. So I ask you again - who is propping up Putin?

That is not remotely true. From 2014 US weapons and money had been pouring into Ukraine to bolster its defences. Without that Ukraine wouldn't have had a chance when the invasion started.

What the Ukrainians got ftom USA that was the most valuable was training. They have used that training to great effect.

After the Crimea NATO had no illusions about the coming war. It was pretty obvious to all military analysts

Wtf are you smoking? Putin is proping up Putin. Officially Putin is propping up the ethnic Russian Ukrainian freedom fighters (fighting Ukrainian Nazis). But that was always a bullshit story. Similat to all of the proxy wars above you mentioned

Because the definition of a proxy war is when both sides are propped up by third parties. Otherwise pretty much every war is a proxy war of sorts.

No its not. I googled it, just to be sure. The results are not ambiguous. If I can Google it. So can you. Don't be lazy.

Post WW2 almost every war has been a proxy war between USA and USSR (including the civil wars). So you're not wrong about that. After the fall of USSR it got messier. But almost all wars continued to be proxy wars. Due to USA's great willingness to continually open their coffers.

USA's great willingness to keep funding wars, in the name of freedom, is nice, but pretty strange imho

You seem to have a weird understanding of a proxy war.

Right now? The United States of America.

It’s not a proxy war. A proxy war is when major powers, or any powers, prop up others who are fighting each other but do not themselves get directly involved in the war. Russia is directly involved ini the war. It has taken over 100,000 casualties and is bogged down in eastern Ukraine, also with Ukrainian troops inside Russia and drone attacks on Moscow and other places. This is not a proxy war.

By Dr Zoidberg's logic the American Revolution was just a proxy war between France and the British.

So not a proxy war then. OK.

What do you mean? Why isn't Ukraine a proxy war between Russia and USA/Europe?

Dude...why did you resurrect this thread to derail it?

I wasn't the one who started arguing about whether the Ukraine war was a proxy war. It was unrelated to my argument. Ask Parooka why he did it.
You made an idiotic claim of fact. When corrected, you doubled down. I realize to you that facts don't matter, but to most people they do.

You brought it up in this thread. You wrote "...Russia got bogged down in Ukraine (another proxy war)..."

I liked the video on Syria

If it were unrelated to your argument, then your comment would be a non sequitur. But you brought it up. You can't expect to bring up hot button issues that you make into a questionable (at best) claim and think no one respond to it.
