Thanks to Jim Derogatis or his years of dogged reporting, Dream Hampton for producing "Surviving R Kelly", and especially all of the victims that told their stories over the years, for their bravery in the face of a famous and wealthy man. I'm hoping the jury makes the right decision this time.

Oh, I am certain there are plenty who will still say he is either being framed b/c he is a successful black man or that his actions are somehow the byproduct of his racist mistreatment. In fact, the NAACP should be polishing him another Image award to add to the 7 they have already given him, most of which were after he was already a convicted violent criminal and accused child rapist.
Excellent news. I hope his friends and employees who helped facilitate and cover up these crimes over the last 20-25 years are also held accountable. I hope R. Kelly dies in prison. He probably won't, but one can dream.
Now let's apply this same accountability to white abusers.

That's not at all what I said. I DO see it as a result of his fame and wealth as well as his being male that he got away with so much abuse for so long. I see it as excellent news that he's finally being held accountable. Now, let's also apply such accountability to white men. Don't put words in my mouth.

Yeah. Epstein. Kevin Spacey. Dershowitz. The list goes on. But I doubt you would allow yourself to be aware of those beyond knee-jerk hand waving and deflection to something something AOC.

Epstein is apparently one of the worst, both in the sense of extent of acts committed and how well protected he is thanks to people at the upper echelons in DC.
Of course you wouldn't recognize those other names. Why would you? Why would they interest you at all? Epstein is a human trafficker and Dershowitz is a well known attorney who received personal favors from his friend Epstein in the form of enslaved girls to have sex with.

No. I don't conspiracy theory at all. You're also not aware of this? Well, Epstein isn't black, so it will take a lot more to bring him to justice than a black hip hop star. I wouldn't expect this story to be within the realm of awareness of a lot of people, unfortunately. It very likely will be soon, though.

No, I am aware of Epstein, the pedophile. I am also aware completely unfounded claim that Dershowitz, his defense attorney, was provided sex slaves. Normally this was the purview of the dregs of the antisemetic right-wing. Of course, now since people blindly hate anything associated with Trump, and Dershowitz has made several constitutional arguments that could be interpreted (let's be clear, by those that are ideologically possessed) as "supporting Trump", then now those same people one the left are happy to engage in those conspiracy theories as well.

except THIS hip-hop star, I suppose... because THIS black person has successfully evaded justice for quite some time. That is why I am confused by what it seems you are trying to say about this.

None of those people got away with and got honored and rewarded as much and for as long as R Kelley did, after their crimes became widely known.
It was 22 years ago R. Kelly was convicted of violent assault crimes and it became public record that he had married a 15 year old. And it was 17 years ago when video came out of him pissing on a little girl and he was indicted for child porn but released b/c the victim refused to testify.
Since his first violent crime conviction and rape of his child bride were first known, here are the consequences that R Kelley suffered:
7 Platinum albums making it to 1 or 2 in the US charts
5 more albums making it into the top 2 on US R&B charts (one as recent as 2015)
105 different music awards from 7 different industry organizations (a few as recent as 2013)
6 AMA
7 BET
79 Billboard
18 BMI
3 Black REAL
1 ECHO
1 Chicago Music Awards
Plus in 2013, Baton Rouge gave him the key to the city.
Let's compare this to Kevin Spacey, who within days of the allegations against him was fired from every acting or producing role he had, his already shot scenes cut from projects in production, and the award he was named to receive that year rescinded.
There are dozens of criminal and civil cases against him in the US and UK whose outcomes are unknown b/c the accusations are so recent. But unlike with Kelly, he wasn't given decades of continued public and industry support after he was a known pedophile.
So, any indication of racial bias in public figures getting a free pass for their crimes would seem to be working in the opposite direction from what you assume.
