Race hoax in Cobb County, GA

I strongly suspect she's the cause of the problem here.

I think he called her out on having too many items in the express lane and she made it personal instead.

He should not have "called her out". It was none of his business.

What? It's none of his business that he has been inconvenienced by somebody breaking the rules?

A few months ago I was in a Costco parking lot, at an extremely busy time, and I saw somebody loading their car. As is the normal thing to do, I put on my indicator light, signalling to other drivers I was waiting for this car to leave.

As the person drove out, another car swooped into the spot, despite my having waited for it. I'm not normally a confrontational person, but I got out of my car and told the swooper "I was waiting for that spot".

Are you saying people shouldn't be called out for violations of common courtesy and simply get away with them every time?

Pregnant women too?

What does being pregnant have to do with anything?

Oh I don't know.... maybe the same fucking thing as it would be for a man on crutches? A little teeny tiny extra bit of courtesy even if he or she had a few extra items in the speed lane.
I remember being in Oakville looking for a bathroom for my well along pregnant wife. We thought we found one but the guy told us they were just for members. In about the next breath, he noticed my wife was pregnant and unlocked the door.

That someone even has to ask why being pregnant matters is pathetic. What appears to be her staging a political stunt the next day isn’t excusable, but even bouts of anger from a well along pregnant woman should be water off a duck’s back.

I couldn't find an image, it might just be too old. There was a Shoe comic on the same topic. Shoe was in the express lane and the woman behind him called him out. He was one over because she was counting a six pack as six items. So he chugged one and tossed the empty at her.

:D
I remember Dave's World and Dave walks into the house exasperated,
Dave: You won't believe what happened at the store just now. *in a cocky tone* Is a six pack one item of six?
Wife: One.
Dave: *pauses* That would make the story less interesting then. (but worded and delivered better)

Personally I'm still confused why people are defending a guy (an admitted Democrat at that) that told off a pregnant woman. I suppose race does transcend politics.

Are pregnant women incapable of wrondoing? I bet Gospa herself deserved a telling off now and then.
I don’t consider 16 items in an express checkout wrong doing. Bring two carts, then we can talk.

Yes??? What is your deference to women in a state that 30 billion women throughout history have experienced before?

Come on. She used the express checkout lane because her pregnancy necessitated it?

Have you been around pregnant women? I know ones that can stand and even walk. It's amazing.

Yeah... if the car swooper had been a pregnant woman, he totally should have called her a "lazy bitch" because, you know, that makes everything so much better.

She used the 10 items or less lane to buy her 15 or so items, while there were two other lanes that were wide open that she could/should have used instead and likely would have gotten out of there just as fast or faster. And in fact, Sparkes with his 3 items sees her in the express lane, gets pissed and uses one of the other wide open lanes, and finishes check out before her. Then, he goes back to the express lane to berate her. So her reason about needing the express lane because she is pregnant makes no sense (at least in this incident). Its just a ruse.

Moreover, one of the articles I read said that it was actually her and another person shopping together, but they were paying for items separately, which would have made each order under 10 items.

...Sparkes with his 3 items sees her in the express lane, gets pissed and uses one of the other wide open lanes, and finishes check out before her. Then, he goes back to the express lane to berate her..

If this is true, it makes him an even bigger fucking asshole than I originally thought & the sole cause of the problem.

Watch the first minute of his interview. I think everyone agrees he was a jerk/asshole. Even he does. There is plenty of blame to go around for both of them.

He should not have "called her out". It was none of his business. Moreover, calling her "a lazy bitch" makes HIM the cause of the problem here (and I strongly believe he said far more than that even if she can't recall the EXACT words he used.

There seems to have been a confrontation, of course he said more.

What I'm saying is that it's almost certain she said more, also. The bitch remark very well might have been in response to what she said rather than to simply being in the express lane.

Swooping a car spot isn't lazy, it's an entitled me first mentality.

Oi!

I know pregnant women that can stand up... therefore there is no strain or fatigue involved that could potentially make a well along pregnant woman not want to wait in a long line, when there is an Express line open and she has a few items *echo* over "the number" prescribed on the sign *echo*, which won't really affect the speed of going through the checkout process.

That you can't even process the possibility speaks volumes as to the source of your politics.

Today on "The World Today with Metaphor" we'll talk about why elderly people should just shut up and keep standing, because I found the seat first... and they ain't going through anything billions of human beings haven't already done themselves.

You didn't know another express lane was open until a couple of posts ago. You already agreed that she'd be entitled to use it, so don't bring that in.

I'm super obese. It is very tiring for me to stand for any length of time. I still don't go into a 12-item express lane with 16 items, nor has anyone ever looked at my condition with pity and let me slip in front of them.

There are specific seats for elderly, disabled and pregnant people on buses and trains in Australia. If you are sitting in one of them and someone in that category comes along, you are obligated to vacate it.

An express checkout lane at the supermarket isn't a designated disabled lane. Get a grip.

Isn't that the single basis of being conservative?

I don't know if she was conservative. She may or may not have been pregnant. Hell, she claimed she hadn't seen me (what else was she going to claim when confronted, though?)

I'm a man of intimidating height and size. Yet I've been timid all my life, including times when I ought not have been timid. There should be a lot more of telling people off, in my estimation.

A few years ago, a woman in front of me at the registers told the register operator to 'smile, love, if you don't like your job you don't need to do it'.

This middle-aged woman had the fucking gall to harass a checkout chick who was probably having a bad shift, who had no option of answering back because she'd get in trouble, who had to simply take this horrendous woman's shit and get on with it. I had something rehearsed in my head for this woman: "you don't know her circumstances, you don't know what's going on in her life, you don't know if she can find another job easily let alone one that she is supposed to 'enjoy' all day every day. How dare you."

I didn't say it, but I should have.

What I find hilarious is that this thread apparently isn’t about her going out into the public the day after and embellish what happened. There is no justification for that.

No, we are stuck on the morality quandary of 10 items or less. Maybe this should move to Moral forum? Or is this a jealousy issue?
