Given what's been happening at the Capitol recently, let us remember the bombing at the Capitol on November 7th 1983 when a group of Communist terrorists blew up a bomb outside the Senate chamber.

In the 1980s, a Far-Left, Female-Led Domestic Terrorism Group Bombed the U.S. Capitol

Eventually, M19 turned to building explosives themselves. Just before 11 p.m. on November 7, 1983, they called the U.S. Capitol switchboard and warned them to evacuate the building. Ten minutes later, a bomb detonated in the building’s north wing, harming no one but blasting a 15-foot gash in a wall and causing $1 million in damage. Over the course of a 20-month span in 1983 and 1984, M19 also bombed an FBI office, the Israel Aircraft Industries building, and the South African consulate in New York, D.C.’s Fort McNair and Navy Yard (which they hit twice.) The attacks tended to follow a similar pattern: a warning call to clear the area, an explosion, a pre-recorded message to media railing against U.S. imperialism or the war machine under various organizational aliases (never using the name M19).

They have not received sentences commensurate with their crimes. And to his great shame, Clinton commuted the sentences of two of the terrorists on his last day in office. Susan Rosenberg, one of the commuted terrorists is working with Black Lives Matter now.

Derek: are you trying to draw a comparison to the Jan 6 capital terrorist attack that was lead and inspired by the President of the US? If not, I will withdraw my comment.

Funny how conservatives only care when there's just property damage involved.

Exactly my thought.
"A MILLION DOLLARS IN DAMAGE!!!" OOooh NOOOOoooes!

That's prolly even worser than killing five people and causing $900,000 in damage!

Indeed. It's amazing how much terrorist attacks by the Left get swept under the rug.

Trump certainly did not lead the attack. Inspired? Sure. But inspiration is iffy as it does not require intent by the person who is the inspiration.

Note that the same group bombed many other places other than the Capitol. But I guess being on the Left means never having to say you are sorry because any behavior is excused (and the next Dem president will commute your sentence anyway).

Funny how conservatives only care when there's just property damage involved.

Or how the Left always downplays terrorist attacks by fellow leftists.

At least Loren hasn't posted yet claiming Susan Rosenberg et al were really 'Proud Boys' in disguise ...

Funny how the right always downplays terror attacks by fellow right wingers.

Funny how right wingers always engage in whataboutism and never have anything of particular substance to say.

OK then, even worser than killing six people and causing $880,000 in damage.

Most of the dead people have been the attackers though, weren't they? As such they are no more relevant than Ted Gold, Diana Oughton and Terry Robbins for example who died when the bomb they were making went off.

And it's not like the May 19th communist group wasn't responsible for killing people. They were involved in the deadly Brinks robbery where several people were murdered including police officers.

I am not a right winger and neither am I downplaying this. It was obviously horrible.

But it was not unique and pretending that it was (I head people say that nothing like this happened since the War of 1812) is downplaying other instances of political violence.

But it was not unique

The incident you linked involved a handful of women, and plus, no one died. Now compare that to what happened during the coup attempt- was it just a "handful" of people who stormed the Capitol? No. And did people die? Yes, people died. It wasn't nearly the same fucking thing, and you're making a massive false equivalence. But I don't expect people such as yourself to be able to spot such basic differences, something anyone who's capable of the slightest bit of critical thought could do.

The incident you linked involved a handful of women,
I guess that makes it all right.
All hail the femitariat!

and plus, no one died.
They killed some people earlier when they participated in the Brinks robbery.

In any case, my point is that the Capitol was the target of political violence in the past. CNN et al are pretending that it is somehow unprecedented.

Now compare that to what happened during the coup attempt- was it just a "handful" of people who stormed the Capitol? No. And did people die? Yes, people died. It wasn't nearly the same fucking thing, and you're making a massive false equivalence.

I was not claiming it was equivalent, but it was still a big deal and most importantly, it is an instance where Capitol was the target of politically motivated violence, contrary to claims that this was somehow unique.

That wasn't my fucking point genius, but obviously you're incapable of critical thought, so I would expect you to make such an assumption.

I was not claiming it was equivalent, but it was still a big deal and most importantly, it is an instance where Capitol was the target of politically motivated violence, contrary to claims that this was somehow unique.

The argument isn't merely that the violence was politically motivated. You do love your straw men, that's way easier than dealing with the actual arguments that are at play.

"it's not unique"

"It's not equivalent"

Can't help but think those two statements are mutually exclusive.

NO! NO!

The attackers were Trump and Cruz and McConnell and the media and.....

The folks who died were the cops doing their jobs and the idiots who believe whatever their media of choice tells them to believe.

No, the real attackers are Trump and his enablers.
