The white Europeans who settled the country committed genocide, when they killed countless native Americans. So, Native Americans should be the first to receive reparations, if we're going in that direction.
Considering that over 70% of Americans are against reparations, I think it's a stupid thing to bring up during an election cycle.
So, I think some of the European countries should pay reparations to Native Americans. Since most of us are second, third or 4th generation immigrants, often from countries that weren't involved in the genocide of Native Americans, let's get the British, Spain and France to pay. They did the most damage.

There have been a few attempts at doing so, most infamously the Indian Claims Commission. Uevenly applied at best, and not very effective, but at least the attempt was made. I do not see why chattel slavery is seen as so much less of a crime, given the genocidal effect it had on so many places and pooulations.

Can Ameridians get reparations from each other? They treated each other rather horribly; with the sacrifices, cannibalism, genocides, plundering, and all that. What about those that allied with the conquering Spanish against the Aztecs and the Inca? The conquistadors would never have succeeded so quickly without their support. And anyone related to that harlot Pocahontas!

Because it was so universal? And because it was Western imperialism which forced the rest of the world go give up slavery?
