Right Wing Terrorism

Police are investigating the cause of a fire that burned down the home of South Carolina Circuit Court judge Diane Goodstein, who had reportedly received death threats for weeks related to her work.

State law enforcement is investigating the house fire on Edisto Beach, which began at around 11:30 a.m. E.T. on Saturday, sources told local news outlet FITSNews. Goodstein was reportedly not at home at the time of the fire, but at least three members of her family, including her husband, former Democratic state senator Arnold Goodstein, and their son, have been hospitalized with serious injuries.
We mustn’t jump to the obvious conclusion that it was the same people who have been issuing death threat against her since she stomped on Orange Jesus’ bloated toes.
It would be "totally" and "completely" "unjustified" to make such an assumption.
Indeed, gas line fail vould explain that. I thini what we know for certain is that it wasn't a cheap ass space heater tipping over.
It would explain it but I don't think the assumption is totally unjustified, given what we know about right wing violence.

It is wholly unjustified. The fire is definitely suspicious. Which is why it is being investigated. But I'm reading posts here that are the left-wing equivalent to Fox News consumer comments.

As I noted in a previous comment, most of the "political" attacks recently have actually not been political. People are misremembering stuff that is barely just happened. Language is way too loose with the truth at the moment, and it is bad enough when it is the right-wing trying to sell a partisan angle over a terrible act. Seeing the left-wing do it feels even worse.

There can also be assumptions which are incorrect but justified, though.

Assumptions are wrong as it presumes something as truth that the person knows hasn't been established.

Suspicions, as long as they remain as such are much more rational.

I'm not trying to be pedantic (but I am), but I think this is very important. Rationality has to win out... or at least we need to do our best to remain rational.

Yes but if I, for example, assume someone who tells me they're going to kill me will kill me, but they don't kill me, is that assumption still wholly unjustified? I don't think it is.

She was sent threats, but I'm pretty certain everyone is getting "threats" these days. As I said, houses like that typically don't go up in flames. Something happened that shouldn't have happened and someone will be held responsible, whether a contractor or a criminal (is that a synonym?).
