When Desmond Morris wrote "the Naked Ape" did he get in trouble for it when recommending the book to black people as well as white people? Is there a similar problem with calling people "Animals" rather than plants if your audience happens to be made up of a particular racial minority?

“They” aren’t insisting on being treated “differently;” they—like everyone—are expecting to be treated with respect and when someone in a prominent social position in particular takes a cheap shot like that, then there should be consequences.

Double standard? If one must insult an individual based, it must be on who they are, not what they are. This is an important distinction that seems lost on some people. The dreaded N-Word is used by African Americans. They have taken ahold of it. There is absolutely no reason for a white person to ever say that word... unless they like Dr. Dre and are rapping along (see Chris Rock). And for some reason, that really bothers some people.
