Rounding Pennies

The current price of a 64 ounce drink at my local CircleK is $1.09, tax included. If I pay with a single bill and a dime, I get a nickel back in change. I can see pennies in the till. I'm not complaining. That's a better return on investment than my IRA is currently yielding.

You drink 2 liters of soda at once?

Not in one sip, but I'll drink three or four 64 ounce drinks a day, but you have to figure about half the volume is ice.

You shouldn't get anything back.

If it were $1.07 or $1.06, you should get back 5¢ if you tender $1.10.
I should get one cent back, but I'm not complaining. As I said, I can see pennies in the till, so it's not because they don't have one cent.
