RussiaGate

I see, he didn't go far enough.

For a Libertarian, you sure are defensive about authoritarians like Trump and Putin.

For a fellow libertarian (by your standard of agreeing on a whole two issues) you seem unable to tell the difference between defending Trump and mocking a conspiracy theorist.

And that is bullshit on so many levels, the least of which is that conspiracies are alternatives to mainstream interpretation of something. So if Russian stuff is a conspiracy theory, then what's the alternative, that Interpol poisoned people, which has absolutely no support?

Ah, the only aspect of Russian meddling in world affairs is the recent poisoning. Nobody has discussed anything else relating to Russia and politics. Just that one poisoning.

Watch those goalposts fly.
Except, there seems to be a possible connection between Gates and the GRU and this relationship existed prior to and during the election.

No no, Don says the only issues is the recent poisoning. That's all Russia has ever done. I didn't say that, he did.

He was on the same list as Christopher Steele ... probably no connection though.

Russian Bots Back Laura Ingraham

Russian bots and troll farms are apparently now coming to the aid of wingnut commentators like Laura Ingraham: Russian bots flock to Laura Ingraham feud with Parkland student: report. It is not just Donald Trump who enjoys their support. This is yet another sign that the Russians intend to wage hybrid warfare on the US on behalf of Republican politicans, causes, and propaganda media. They will not want a Congress installed after 2018 that is hostile to lifting the sanctions, among other policy goals of the Putin regime.

Russian bots on Twitter appear to be latching on to the feud between Fox News host Laura Ingraham and Parkland, Fla., shooting survivor David Hogg.

Hamilton 68, a website that tracks Twitter accounts linked to Russian influence campaigns, found that the use of the hashtag #IstandwithLaura spiked 2,800 percent over the weekend, the Chicago Tribune reported on Monday.

Another bot-monitoring project, Botcheck.me, reported that “David Hogg” and “Laura Ingraham” were the top two-word phrases being shared by Russia-linked accounts.

Russia-linked bot accounts typically seize on divisive issues in American politics. In the days after the Parkland shooting, trending hashtags among Russian bots included “#Parkland, #guncontrolnow, #Florida and #guncontrol.”
Botcheck also found that @ingrahamangle, @davidhogg111 and @foxnews were in the top accounts named in tweets from Russia-linked accounts over the weekend, according to the Tribune.

Ingraham came under fire last week after mocking Hogg on Twitter over his college rejections.

New sanctions are in place. These two articles from Reuters will serve as the basis for many news stories, so they contain details that other news outlets may edit out:

I can’t help but think that this list represents not so much a message from the US as it does from Putin. Newly re-elected; time to clean house. That kind of thing.

Trump, perhaps driven a bit crazy by the raid on his "fixer" lawyer's office, has now threatened to shoot missiles into Syria in retaliation for Assad's use of chemical weapons there. In addition, he has taunted Russia with this threat. Russia replied to his taunts correctly with the reply that they do not engage in "Twitter diplomacy". So, once again, Trump has made us look bad with his idiotic tweets. However, he is also doing something else. By warning Putin and Assad in advance, he is giving them plenty of time to minimize the effects of such an unprovoked attack by moving military assets to new locations and preparing to shoot down the incoming missiles. Moreover, he may not actually carry through on his stupidly dangerous threat.

And it seems he got the price of oil to rally, which should please Putie.

If he can tweet them all into hiding, more power to him!

Now we have Putin, who fears being out-machoed by Trump, issuing a threat of retaliation against the "launch sites", depending on the scope of the US attack and potential for Russian casualties. This is beginning to look like the kind of nightmare that Hillary Clinton predicted--an out-of-control nut in charge of a military confrontation. Putin is more in control of himself, but he is also ruled by a testosterone-driven fear of looking weak. His threat of retaliation was probably made under the presumption that Donald Trump would pull back from the brink, if threatened by retaliation. He may not understand that Donald Trump is driven more by his momentary passions than some kind of strategic calculation. Trump may well think that he can bully Putin into making some kind of concession by using our "smart missiles" to impress him.

As usual, you were misinformed. Putin issued nothing of the sort. It was some russian diplomat friendly reminder. And no, despite your belief Putin did not order him to twit that. In fact Russian government officials are pretty silent about whole thing but russian ships vacated Syrian bases/ports for Trump to bomb. So no, Putin is not Trump.

Yes, and you elected this.

I think you were closer with the previous post. Trump was (is, has always been) using Twitter as his primary communication with Putin, but the man is still a ham-fisted idiot thinking he’s the most suave and sophisticated one in the room. That tweet—warning Syria and Putin—was the result of an idiot mind thinking he’s being discrete at the same time posturing to his base in another fake “I’m being tough on Russia, so how could I be in collusion with them” ploy. Putin, not being an idiot, however, had to ignore the stupidity and act as if it were real and play along, but it’s already diffused.

Just picture Will Ferrel playing Trump and then re-read the warning tweet.

Russia's envoy to the UN is presumed to speak for the Russian government, which is controlled by Vladimir Putin. In fact, he is a "Russian government official"--the official voice of Russia at the UN. But you didn't know that, did you? For my part, I have never said that Putin is Trump, just that he, like Trump, is terrified of being perceived as weak. That is what makes this situation so dangerous. The Russian government is sending out signals that it might retaliate against a strike on Syria. See Trump weighs Syria options, Russia envoy says he 'cannot exclude' war

Vassily Nebenzia, Moscow’s ambassador to the United Nations, said he “cannot exclude” war between the United States and Russia and urged Washington and its allies to refrain from military action against Syria.

“The immediate priority is to avert the danger of war,” he told reporters. “We hope there will be no point of no return,” the envoy said.

Yes, and you elected this.

No, the electoral college "voted" for Trump, who lost the popular vote by something like 3 million votes. Trump won because of razor-thin victories in a few strategically important electoral states that your GRU trolls helped the Republican Party to target. It was a legitimate vote under our system, as far as we know, but the interference of the Russian government in helping to elect Trump is now under criminal investigation. And it is no secret that Russians celebrated Trump's election, which they felt they had helped to engineer.

They are not mine and it's doubtful they have competency to do it, unless of course Cambridge Analytica is GRU outfit.

Stop giving credit to russians

They celebrated defeat of Clinton.
