Oddly, Alfa Bank’s new theory of the case is inconsistent with the company’s own prior statements. Dinh wrote in 2017 that the company hired Mandiant and that “Mandiant’s hypothesis was that any server-related activity between Alfa Bank and the Trump Organization was the result of an automated email-based campaign to market Trump properties to Alfa Bank employees.” So which is it? That innocuous account that Alfa Bank put forth earlier or the new nefarious one?
It's not known. Could be either or both. It should be investigated. But one thing is for sure, Rachel Maddow is not as smart as people/she think.
For me Maddow isn't the issue either, just another of many distractions that occur with any such claim. When Trump announced his candidacy she reported that many of his supporters at the event were paid actors. No one took that seriously either but today we know it was absolutely correct, not that it would make any difference to a Trumper.

Anyway we agree that the issue warrants further investigation. As Alfa has legally resurrected the issue it seems we will be doing just that.

Yes, and this investigation should be not about Trump-Alfa conspiracy. It should be about these who "discovered" that "conspiracy".

During an interview on Fox News with right-wing commentator Mark Levin, former President Donald Trump seemingly opened the door for further investigation into his actions related to the Russia investigation by bragging that he effectively obstructed justice when he fired then-FBI director James Comey.

Trump told Levin that he simply had to fire Comey. Otherwise, he could have been held accountable for his relationship with Russia during the 2016 election.

“Don’t forget, I fired Comey,” Trump boasted. “Had I not fired Comey, you might not be talking to me right now about a beautiful book about four years in the White House, and we’ll see about the future. If I didn’t fire Comey, they were looking to take down the president of the United States… I don’t think I could’ve survived if I didn’t fire him.”

Trump’s stunning admission came Amid growing calls for Attorney General Merrick Garland to impanel a grand jury to determine if the former president should face criminal charges for obstruction.

Well, claims of Trump-Alfa conspiracy were handled by Mueller investigation. They found them to be not credible.
Contrary to what many expected, the Mueller Report did not even mention the server allegations, and when asked about the case during his July 2019 testimony to the House Intelligence Committee, Mueller was foggy in his response: “Do not know whether it’s true…It may well have been investigated, although it’s my belief at this point, it’s not true.”
Mueller did not investigate the Alfa Bank aspect. "Well, claims of Trump-Alfa conspiracy were handled by Mueller investigation. They found them to be not credible." is just plain not true.

Enough with legalese word salad porn.
It's obvious that any semi-competent investigator would look into something which caused MSM foam in the mouth 24/7. Mueller is at least semi-competent.

barbos, lighten up on the stimulants FFS.

I'll admit that there's a bit of conspiracy atmosphere. But that's exactly why I want to see it in open court. If there's data let's see it. But even if there is we might not because of alleged "national security" concerns. Seems to me national security concerns would be best served by resolving the matter openly. What would we do if we didn't have so many bogeymen in all our lives? :)

But it seems we will find out, maybe.

You said something that wasn't factual: "Well, claims of Trump-Alfa conspiracy were handled by Mueller investigation. They found them to be not credible." Now you're doubling down on it. That's a strange way of saying "Sorry, I was wrong."

Okay, cite from the Mueller report where it was found to not be credible.
I cited it the first time - The place where it was not mentioned at all.
Keep in mind Alfa bank was mentioned, which means they looked into it. They just did not mention this DNS crap. Why?
Is it because Mueller had following conversation:
Mueller: High John, you are in computer forensic department, right? what are your thoughts on this DNS log stuff Rachel Maddow can't stop talking about?
John: Are you serious? It's garbage.
Mueller: What do you mean? You have already looked into it?
John: Yes, it's horse shit and people behind it know that.
Mueller: OK, thanks. I guess I'll avoid including it in a report.

The only times Alfa Bank was mentioned in the report is when the report refers to Petr Alven and Richard Burk. It says absolutely nothing about the Trump servers and the Alfa servers communicating.

For about a year I put credence in the claim that JFK's headwound was accidentally caused by the M16 being carried in the following vehicle by the Secret Service. A lot of the evidence made sense but what was most convincing was the behavior of the bullet that caused the head wound. It fragmented unlike the other bullet that was recovered that was in very good condition, the one that hit both JFK and Connally.

But after decades it was convincingly demonstrated that such fragmentation could indeed occur from the same rifle and the same bullet. So the new evidence convinced me. The other bullet, the one that was regularly referred to as "pristine," implying that it had been planted and never struck JFK of Connally, was actually quite deformed on just simple inspection. So a lot of the conspiratorial woo was destroyed by simple evidence.

That's what should happen here. It's a simple process.

Or the Cattle Mutilations of the 70's? Dead cow organs removed 'with surgical precision' by means unknown? Aliens suspected.

But the 'surgical precision' assessment never survived an atual surgeon looking at the 'cuts.' The organs swelled up, got chewed up by predators, and the remaining tissues shrank back down before humans came onto the scene. Looked 'precise' until examined under a magnifying glass or microscope. They were clearly bite marks, not scalpel.

As you say, 'Actually Look. Pretty simple process.'

Sometimes shitstorms trace back to a small error.

Remember when we blew up the Chinese embassy in Yugoslavia? It didn't take much investigation to figure out it was simply a map that wasn't updated, the bomb was aimed for the former occupant of the space. Big facepalm but no need for a big investigation.

It could be that Mueller was limiting his investigation to evidence of a criminal conspiracy that would stand up in court. The Alfa Bank story was not that kind of evidence, and the question of its role would properly be part of the counterintelligence investigation that had been explicitly separated from Mueller's domestic focus. It appears that Mueller thought that the DoJ had a separate counterintelligence investigation going, but nobody knows whether it actually happened. Mueller made almost no mention of Alfa Bank, because it was outside of what he considered the scope of his investigation to be. It seems more than likely that the Trump administration simply dropped the counterintelligence probe without letting the public or Mueller know. You cannot conclude that Mueller's failure to say more about Alfa Bank was an endorsement of your speculation.

Horse shit. Mueller was not preparing to go to Court. He was merely investigating.
And stop implying that Alfa-Trump server conspiracy just was not up to the high standards. It is utter horse shit and this is why Alfa Bank is pursuing it.
Because they know they would win and because Putin told them - I need this shit.
Your media and justice system made a huge mistake.
