did you know that hiphop has deep scifi roots? it starts with parliament/funkadelic, of course. the whole Starchild Mythology was a postmodern take on history - a reinvention of myth.

Parliament - the Mothership Connection

Digable Planets - the GOOD hiphop of the 90s, kept the myth going. they were the Insects, from Sector Six, brining the groove back to Earth

Digable Planets - Reachin (a new refutation of time and space)

I was going to bring up Deltron, but you already did.

And honestly, outside of nerdcore, there isn't much else that comes to mind for me. An Outkast album here, a De La album there I guess...

really?

Beastie Boys - Intergalactic

Deltron 3030 is pure scifi

Deltron 3030 Love Story

if anyone cares, i'll go on - there are lots more
Deltron 3030 was my first thought on reading the thread title. :D Just brilliant. I love it.

Here's my favorite, though it's hard to choose just one from this wonderful work:

Also, Beastie Boys' Intergalactic has long been one of my favorites.

I was thinking of albums, not just singles or videos - although the Intergalactic video is just flat out fun to watch. And I honestly just haven't liked much of Kool Keith's solo stuff very much - meaning, I just never think about him at all. The only thing I can think of as well done as Deltron would likely be Janele Monae - which can fit in, I guess. Mr. Lif and Vast Aire like to play towards sci-fi ideas pretty regularly - MF DOOM's more what I would think of as a comic book character.

Speaking of El-P, have you heard the project he did with Alec Empire of Atari Teenage Riot? I think this is 20 years old and Alec's loop is a little monotonous but this one belongs in the subgenre because El-P goes crazy with hateful imagery and some scientific themes. He sounds mad like he is strung out on coke and mourning the death of a pet. I love Alec Empire, too. Not his recent stuff but the hardcore and gabber he has made is impressive.

Anti-Pop Consortium and Das Racist are two others, tantric. Not in the mood to put a video but add those.

Absurdist rap from NY. Anti materialist and against the gold chain genocide rap that is pushed so hard in the industry for some reason. They have a lot of science jargon in their rhymes and they are hilarious in a defiant way. They come off as sort of a joke, but they're a serious art statement. I was looking for Dio cover songs in 2011 when I came across them and I've been a regular listener for years now. Had to link a live performance so you could see their attitude, which is fun and a good influence for listeners. More artists should be like them.

Haezer - Troublemaker - you get a lot of scifi videos to songs that aren't so much, but this video rules.
