She never lies about rape??

I agree.

People who use lines from fiction word for word are most likely lying.

It does not help us at all to decide about the people who do not use lines from fiction word for word.

This just highlights the difficulties with child incest/rape cases. Was a big problem back in the 1980's.

So what should be done to hold her accountable? How did you come to your conclusion of what level of accountability is appropriate? For the purposes of these questions assume it's proven beyond a reasonable doubt that the accuser is lying. Lying = making an accusation that you know is false.

Oops, a lawyer also read 50 shades of grey and got her to confess on the stand.

And it was simply to "teach him a lesson".

Who said this girl didn't lie about a rape? Was there another thread on the topic that I missed?

There are some that insist the woman doesn't ever lie about being raped.

This is a case where she without a doubt lied.

We are not given her age. Very possibly she is a young adult. Why put "she" in scare quotes? That pronoun applies regardless of age.
And she was in Britain.
So?

She's not an adult. She's obviously a minor living at home with parents.

I seriously hope that Britain's version of CPS gets involved and that everybody involved gets the help she needs.*

*Adding some detail about that statement because it's pretty obvious that some posting in this thread, including Derec, haven't actually read the article with comprehension and yet that doesn't stop them from climbing on a whole herd of hobby horses and riding them off a cliff.

It seems fairly obvious from the article that, at a minimum, the child needs serious intervention and counseling. And also family counseling, depending on what is determined from the child's individual therapy.

It rather boggles the mind/stretches credulity to believe that the father had no idea what his daughter's favorite book was about, given the title. Maybe it's not as well known on the other side of the pond. But I'm not totally buying he had no idea.

In this case, she is not a woman, but a child.

Beyond a doubt, there is more to this situation than is revealed in the trial. I'm not accusing the father of lying or of prosecution of missing something and letting a pedophile father off the hook. I'm saying that there is something very amiss in that home. It may be only the child making the accusations has issues but there are surely some ineffective parenting strategies going on. I'd prefer to believe that is the case. I hope this is not the end for this child and this family. They seem like they truly could use some serious help.

Actually, nothing in the article confirms that she was a child when she invented these lies.

She claimed these incidents occurred in the past over a six year period and that her father's strict parenting had "ruined her life." That all implies someone at least in the late teens if not already an adult.

At minimum she is old enough that there is no stark psychological divide between her and many young women of college age. So discounting her as a relevant instance of a female lying about rape to punish someone is dishonest bullshit, only exceeding by Playball's attempt to discount her for being British.

I discounted nothing, only added information. The fact they said she was "too young" to grasp the words she was repeating/reciting indicated to me she is not an adult. That was in another article. The fact that it was in Britain was to prevent us from starting any arguments based on US laws. That's all.
