Sky photos

Not sure if this is the right section or not, but I couldn’t find a thread for just. A true shots without animals etc. so here goes.

This was our sky at 3:15ish am. It was remarkable in that the edge of the cloud was so distinct, made so by the full moon illuminating from behind. The sky was inky black, the stars visible only in another section of sky.

The photo doesn’t really do it justice.

It’s really hard to capture how dramatic the clouds can look with a full moon illuminating them. I need to look for a tutorial.

I have had zero luck getting good pictures of the sky, period. Anything interesting I've tried came out a pale imitation of what I was seeing, I think due to a lack of range in the sensor.

I find it interesting that we can get amazing photos of sunsets and sunrises, but nice shits elude us.

In my experience the key to taking interesting sky photos is to have a camera when the sky does something interesting.

Sifting though my 123,000 photos for sky photos is a little hit or miss.

There were no sundogs, just the 22 degree halo, and rain didn't come.

I caught the end of a solar pillar by chance one evening. It was featured on Universe Today



It was just a coincidence that the contrail made an odd hockey-stick effect.

I was out doing wildlife photography today and saw one of these too.

These taken at my camera's widest angle.

I've been stewing over another photo that I took about 30 minutes before I took the 22 Degree photos above.

This airliner. I don't recall ever seeing contrails form across the entire length of the wings like the photo below.

Are the two related? Some moisture in the air that create both?
